Remember the Lenovo G02? Well, when looking through AliExpress for some new deals, we discovered that it’s returned as the “SUNYAO G02.”
A few weeks ago, Lenovo was making headlines as the company had seemingly released its first retro handheld. There was debate about whether this was actually made by Lenovo or not, but after support documentation was found, Lenovo offered an explanation. The Lenovo G02 was actually made by Lenovo, but was supposed to have only been available in China.
Not long after the initial story broke, Lenovo ended up removing the G02 from AliExpress and other retailers due to the inclusion of ROMs. Of course, this isn’t uncommon in the retro handheld space, as it can be kind of difficult to get a handheld that doesn’t have thousands of ROMs available out of the box.

As a refresher, the G02 features a 4.5-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768. It’s powered by the Rockchip RK3326, paired with the Mali-G31 MP2 GPU, 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of storage, expandable via microSD. It’s also said to last for up to six hours on a single charge, thanks to the 4,000mAh battery.
Nevertheless, we were still surprised to see the SUNYAO G02 appear on AliExpress, available from a variety of AliExpress storefronts. Curiously enough, on one listing in particular, there’s a “Brand Explanation” message, which says the following:
The brand of this game console product is “SUNYAO”, which belongs to the Lenovo ecosystem brand. It is a brand wholly owned by Lenovo, therefore, the words “Invested by Lenovo” can also be seen on the product box. Its quality control is the same as the Lenovo brand.
At the time of this writing, the handheld can still be purchased, with the lowest price we’ve seen being around $50 with a coupon. That being said, if you want to jump on the bandwagon, you might not want to wait around too long. We wouldn’t be surprised if Lenovo ended up trying to pull listings again in the coming days.
