Just as the weekly Retro Handhelds Podcast was kicking off, AYN dropped a massive surprise as the company announced the Odin 2 Portal handheld. This one came out of left field, as things have been pretty quiet in the AYN camp ever since the Odin 2 Mini was announced.
Not much else is known about the Odin 2 Portal since all we have is the Indiegogo link and the YouTube video you see above.
AYN Odin 2 Portal: What We Know
So far, we know that the Odin 2 Portal sports a 7-inch 1080p OLED touchscreen display complete with a 120Hz refresh rate. AYN also shared that it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, but initially stopped short of revealing exactly what CPU is at the helm. It was later confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be at the helm, which doesn’t really come as much of a surprise.
When looking at the video and teaser images, we can see that the Odin 2 Portal offers stacked shoulder buttons, along with the same ABXY layout as the Odin 2. There are a total of four shortcut buttons on the front, along with Power and Volume on the top, and then macro buttons on the back. In terms of controls, AYN confirmed the Odin 2 Portal also includes Hall Effect joysticks with RGB lighting, which shouldn’t really come as much of a surprise.
Besides that, there’s a USB-C port on the bottom, hopefully making it so the current Odin Dock will work with this new handheld. Also on the bottom is a microSD card slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
As the crew from the RH Podcast pointed out, the Odin 2 Portal looks strikingly similar to the Retroid Pocket 5. It starts with the bezel-less display but extends to the use of an all-glass front panel.
Lastly, AYN actually made a small tweak to the name shortly after the announcement. Originally, the Indiegogo page and YouTube video were both titled “Odin Portal,” but it was swiftly changed to “Odin 2 Portal.”
UPDATE 10/22: The Odin 2 Portal Ships in December
In less than 24 hours (at the time of this writing), you’ll finally be able to pre-order the Odin 2 Portal! There’s a new landing page for the Indiegogo campaign, revealing the various tiers and some of the perks that are available.
Super Early Bird pricing starts at $299, which is for the Odin 2 Portal “Base”, with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. However, there’s only one color option at this tier, as you can only get the Black colorway. If you want either the White or Indigo, you’ll have to jump up to the Odin 2 Portal Pro, which costs $379 with the Super Early Bird promotion.
There have been a lot of questions about whether AYN would beat Ayaneo’s Pocket EVO to the market, but it doesn’t seem that will be the case. According to the IGG page, all models of the Odin 2 Portal are estimated to ship sometime in December.

UPDATE 10/16: Colors and More Details Provided
Now that the cat’s out of the bag, AYN is sharing more information about the Odin 2 Portal. First up, while the promo video only showed off the Portal in Black, this won’t be the only color available, as it will also come in Silver. Notably, the color of the right joystick is yellow, while the A+B buttons will be red and green, respectively.
Speaking of the joysticks, it’s been confirmed that the Odin 2 Portal will not use full-size sticks. However, these won’t be exactly the same as the Odin 2 and Odin 2 Mini, as the Portal’s joysticks are expected to offer a wider range of motion compared to the previous iterations. In addition to this, it’s also been confirmed that AYN will offer two “joystick hats with different heights and textures.”
Lastly, a little nugget of information about the display was shared, as there have been questions about how bright the Portal will get. AYN seems to be checking all of the boxes, as the Odin 2 Portal not only supports HDR, but is said to offer up to 800 nits of brightness.
UPDATE: A Third Color Enters The Fray
It turns out that there was a third color that AYN was keeping from us. The Odin 2 Portal will come in Silver, Black, and Indigo. Another surprising change from the original images shared is that the Yellow thumbstick is gone from the Silver model. Hopefully, there will be an option to swap this out, especially with the Indigo colorway.
UPDATE (10/21): Odin 2 Portal Specs and Pricing
Bright and early on a Monday morning, AYN shared almost everything else there is to know about the upcoming Odin 2 Portal. This includes the two different Early Bird IGG pricing tiers, along with the retail price for the various models. Once the IGG campaign goes live, the Odin 2 Portal ‘Base’ comes in at $299 for the Super Early Bird tier, the Pro will cost $80 more at $379, and the Max tops out at $479. Retail pricing ranges from $349 to $529 depending on what version you get.
[wpdatatable id=13]As was the case with the Odin 2, the Portal will come in three different flavors with the Base, Pro, and Max. The only differences between the three are the RAM and storage options, as the Odin 2 Portal Base sports 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, the Pro comes with 12GB and 512GB, while the Max offers 16GB and 1TB.
A little while after we originally updated this piece, AYN made one big change and provided some confirmation. Initially, the Odin 2 Portal was set to sport a 6,600mAH battery. However, after receiving some backlash in Discord and on social media, it seems that this will be upgraded to an 8,000mAh cell.
Lastly, we don’t have too much longer to wait if you want to order one of these for yourself. The Indiegogo campaign is set to kick off on Wednesday, October 23 at 8 am ET. So you’ll need to wake up early and move quickly if you hope to snag the Super Early Bird price.
Currently, the Indiegogo page is live, but it’s nothing more than a landing page for you to enter your email to be notified when more information is made available.

Correction: the button layout on the Portal is the same as on the original Odin 2. The Odin 2 Mini has an Xbox layout with the A button on the bottom.
Person, while the idea of an OLED handheld from AYN is Interesting, I think it’s too big. At that size it will probably be as expensive as a Steam Deck and not much smaller. I actually sold my Odin 2 Max to buy an Odin 2 Mini and I very much prefer that form factor. If they were to release another handheld with the form factor of the Odin 2 Mini, an OLED screen, and the same internals I’d be game. As it is, that seems too much for an Android handheld.
I hope we get both Batocera and Armbian on this Handheld too!!! 🤞😣
Please bring us Portmaster Support!!!
It has a Snapdragon 8gen2, as the IGG page states.
Was close to grabbing an Odin 2 on sale a few weeks ago. Glad I held off and can hop onto this one 🙂
