In case you didn’t know, 2026 is the 20th anniversary of the ASUS ROG brand. To celebrate, the company announced the ROG Xbox Ally X20 back at Computex 2026, along with a bunch of other “ROG Edition 20” products. Until now, the company had remained tight-lipped about pricing and availability for the Ally X20.

That’s no longer the case as pre-orders for the ROG Xbox Ally X20 are now open, starting at $1,299 for just the handheld. When originally announced, ASUS heavily implied that the X20 would only be made available as part of a bundle, which also includes the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses. While that bundle is still available, it’s not the only way to get your hands on the X20.

At the time of this writing, the ROG XBOX Ally X20 is available from either ASUS directly, or through Best Buy’s website. If you opt for the bundle, here’s everything that’s included:

  • ASUS ROG XBOX Ally X20
  • Custom dbrand Killswitch Case
    • Features a built-in kickstand and gold-and-black accents to celebrate the 20th anniversary
  • Custom Protector Case from Pelican
    • Sports red ROG latches and the exclusive 20th anniversary badge
  • ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses
  • 68W Charging Adapter

It turns out that my original guess about pricing for the bundle was pretty spot on: If I were to guess, we’re probably looking at somewhere between $2000 and $2500, if not closer to $3,000.

There’s about a $300 “up-charge” for the improvements made with the Ally X20, such as the new controls, new cooling system, and OLED display. Which, frankly, isn’t that bad of a deal, especially considering that other handhelds are being released with starting prices north of $1,500 and beyond.

While the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme might not be able to really keep up with the Ryzen AI 395 Max+, that doesn’t mean it’s not more than capable. You’ll still be able to enjoy a lot of the best AAA games released this year, not to mention the built-in Xbox integration for an even larger library of games. The biggest difference is that you’ll probably have to do a bit more tweaking to the performance settings than just relying on sheer power and brute force to get an intensive game to run smoothly and look good.

Who would’ve thought that ASUS would have released arguably the best value x86 handheld of the year? Definitely not me, but I’m here for it and will hopefully be able to get my hands on the Xbox Ally X20.
