A little over a month ago, news surfaced that Lenovo was working on releasing a new gaming handheld, dubbed the Legion C700. Since then, details have been scarce, but thanks to a post on Weibo by Lenovo itself, revealed that the C700 will launch this week.
Considering that the post comes via Weibo, it’s unlikely that we’ll see a global launch of the C700 anytime soon. However, it also won’t be surprising if the handheld randomly starts showing up at various AliExpress retailers after its official release.
Thanks to the promotional image that Lenovo also shared, we’ve learned that the C700 will feature a 7.82-inch display, with a 1920 x 1080 resolution, while maxing out at 500 nits of brightness. We’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out what’s actually powering the C700.

The article goes on to suggest that this will be a cloud-streaming focused handheld, relying on “Lenovo’s proprietary streaming software, allowing for one-click streaming initiation, as well as offline and high-speed streaming modes.” While streaming might be the focus, it’s still a bit unclear of whether the Legion C700 will end up being limited like the PlayStation Portal was when it launched.
Perhaps we’ll get lucky and end up with a handheld like the now-retired Logitech G Cloud, which had a primary focus of streaming, but turned out to be quite a capable retro emulation handheld. Nevertheless, Lenovo might have a winner on its hands with the Legion C700, even if we can only pick one up from AliExpress and third-party resellers.
