Lenovo has been dabbling a lot more with Android based handhelds over the last few years. While The Legion Y700 has been just about the best gaming tablet you could ask for, a lot of people were asking for a handheld that could implement that screen into it. Lenovo answered, and responded by giving us the Legion Go line of handhelds. When that wasn’t enough, Lenovo partnered with Gamesir to release the G9; a controller attachment for their Y700 tablet. But now finally; 3 years after the ill fated Legion Go Play made mysterious appearances on channels like Taki Udon. Lenovo might finally be back with a new handheld; the C700.

Posted over on publication ITHome. The first images of the C700 were shown off. There currently isn’t a lot of information to go off of, but the page itself does not the potential that this handheld will be sold in partnership with Tencent games. From what can be gathered, this may imply that the C700 is going to be another streaming handheld, similar to the Logitech G Cloud we had seen a few years back. Whether or not that’s a good thing will come down to whatever chip is powering it. We haven’t seen a lot of “streaming first” handhelds outside of the G Cloud and something like the Abxylute line of handhelds, but this could be a good thing, or even something better given Lenovo’s affinity for gaming devices.

There has also been a physical image of the C700 floating around and it really does look like a Y700 tablet with the controller attachment back on it. Here’s hoping Lenovo uses that OLED panel from the recently announced Y700 tablet, but even if they don’t, their LCD panels have always been great. The release announcement isn’t slated until August, but hopefully we’ll find out more sooner than that. And once we do, I’m sure you’ll find out about it too.
