It seems that Abxylute isn’t quite done tearing through new controller announcements and releases. Following the recent drops of their J8 Joycons, N6 Controller Dock, and Collaboration S9V with Viture, it seems the Abxylute wants to continue showing off what they can do with a pair of controllers meant to turn your phone into an oversized PSP Go.
Having dropped their Kickstarter campaign earlier this week, Abxylute showcased the M5 and M6 controllers. A slim, and thicker option for gaming on the go if a telescopic controller wasn’t quite your jam. Following in the footsteps of their highly coveted M4 controller, these two adopt a look more reminiscent of something like the MCON controller that we saw hit the scenes last year. It’s almost like Abxylute was aiming straight for them with their spec sheet.

Getting a look at it, you can see that the pair of slip n’ slide controllers bring a lot more to the party than the “comparable product” including an “improved rail” system, dedicated macro buttons, and something that is genuinely an upgrade, linear motors for rumble. Two interesting points to note though, are that the slimmer M5 controller is USB-C wired only. A feature that Abxylute touts on its own with a line in their “compare spec sheet.”
If you’re looking to grab an M5 or M6 controller from their Kickstarter, you’ve about 38 days left to do so before they ship, and inevitably put it on their website for you to purchase after everyone has gotten it. The slimmer, battery free M5 comes in at an early bird price of $59, while the slightly thicker, battery containing M6 is a measly $65 by comparison. Abxylute also offers multi-packs, as well as a founders edition M5 in prices ranging from $109 for 2 M5 controllers to $4,196 if you’d like to buy 100 of them at wholesale value.
Gee I wonder why no one backed that one.
Personally speaking, I find the M6 to be the most interesting of the bunch. Its larger, thicker design should make it more comfortable to use for longer periods of time, though I certainly wonder about how those absolutely diminutive thumbsticks will feel in normal use. But that’s something we’ll just have to wait and see.
