We knew Retroid would be sharing more details today about the Pocket Duo, but we didn’t expect this. Last night, it was revealed that the Pocket Duo will weigh about 350g, while being just 23.2mm thick, making it even thinner than the AYN Thor and almost as thin as a New 3DS XL.
This morning, Retroid released its first “Game Demo” showcase for the Pocket Duo, offering a glimpse into what we can expect from the Q-7790 chipset. The video starts by showing off 3DS gameplay via Azahar being played at a 4x resolution.
In the second half of the video, DS gameplay is shown off using melonDS, but we can also see a stylus being used to control Kirby. Although there has been no mention of Retroid including a stylus, I am curious to see if one is made available on Retroid’s website once the Pocket Duo is put up for pre-order.
Not long after the Game Demo video was released, Retroid surprised everyone with brand new teaser video for the Pocket Duo. This time, it was revealed that the Pocket Duo will be joined by the Pocket Duo Lite, offering a more budget-friendly option in the latest release cycle.
The biggest differences between the Pocket Duo and the Pocket Duo Lite are found in the displays, controls, and processors. The Lite ditches the 120Hz OLED panels in favor of 60Hz IPS LCD screens, and instead of the traditional “Stacked” triggers, we’ll have in-line trigger buttons.

As for performance, Retroid is yet again pulling from the Dragonwing family of Qualcomm processors, this time with the Dragonwing QCS6125. Unlike the Q-7790, which was unveiled at CES 2026, the QCS6125 has been around since early 2025, and is primarily used in retail POS systems.
It sports a max clock speed of 2GHz while being paired with the Adreno 610 GPU. In theory, it should be able to handle 3DS emulation without much of an issue, but we’ll have to wait and see to make sure.

Beyond that, the teaser video confirmed a few other specs and details for both handhelds. These include a 6000mAh battery, along with Active Cooling, and five different colors for everyone to choose from.

There aren’t too many details left for Retroid to reveal, and at the rate we’re going, we could be looking at pre-orders by the end of the week. If I were to guess on the price, I’d say that the Pocket Duo will retail for about $299, with the Pocket Duo Lite coming in at $199, maybe $249.
Or maybe Retroid will shock everyone and target Anbernic’s recent attempt to corner the budget clamshell market. I’m not holding my breath on that, but it would be pretty awesome to see the Pocket Duo Lite come in around $150.
