Would you believe me if I told you that it’s been almost eight months since the last major KNULLI update was released? Well, if you’ve been wondering when the next major version would arrive, you’re in luck, as KNULLI Scarab is now officially available for download.
This is arguably one of the biggest updates we’ve seen from the KNULLI team since its inception, with more changes, new features, and other improvements than you can shake a stick at. For example, KNULLI Scarab brings support to more than 15 handhelds, including the TrimUI Smart Pro S, Anbernic RG Vita Pro, and RG DS, just to name a few. Oh, you can also now install KNULLI on a handful of Retroid devices, such as the Retroid Pocket 5 and Pocket Flip 2.
KNULLI Scarab Release Notes
- KNULLI now fully supports the revised H700 devices of Anbernic’s RG XX series
- Added support for BATLEXP G350, GKD Pixel 2, Miyoo Flip, Powkiddy X55, Retroid Pocket 5, Flip 2, and many others
- RetroArch has been updated to 1.22.2
- Standalone Yabasanshiro was added for better performance on SEGA Saturn emulation
- improved Syncthing integration allows you to trigger syncs manually or even automatically on game exit while notifications keep you posted about transfer progress
- our new BatteryPlus gives you more precise information about your current battery state
- new and improved RGB support via Silky RGB (thank you, doughn0!)
- A ton of bugfixes and improvements to system stability, performance, and battery life
Since Scarab is such a massive update, the KNULLI team says that you’ll need to re-flash the firmware for your device. Some of this is due to “a lot of files and paths” being renamed, but it’s also in order to “change the partition table of the SD card.”
That being said, if you want to try your hand at upgrading the existing build, you can follow the Major Updates Guide over on the KNULLI Wiki. No matter what path you take, just be sure to back everything up so that you can restore your previous setup in the event that something goes awry.
