AYANEO is gearing up to reveal its newest flagship gaming handheld, the AYANEO Pocket S2.

In the past few weeks, AYANEO has made a few announcements and launched a new product, the Pocket Micro Classic.

The Pocket Micro Classic is a very light deviation from its big brother, the Pocket Micro. It features the same internals but removes the analog sticks altogether. Without the sticks, it has a more Game Boy Micro-inspired design.

Get Ready for the Pocket S2

Today, AYANEO is announcing… an announcement.

Alongside Qualcomm at GDC 2025, the company will be showing off its new AYANEO Pocket S2, a successor to the Pocket S from last year. Similarly to how we expect the Pocket S2 — not to be confused with the AYANEO 2S — to be revealed, the Pocket S was shown at events with Qualcomm during the Mobile World Congress and ChinaJoy in 2024.

The first Pocket S had a lengthy rollout. It was announced, teased, shown off in a late-night stream, and then finally made available for pre-order. AYANEO seemingly follows this launch process for all of their products, seeing as the Pocket Micro Classic, an offshoot of a pre-existing handheld, had a nearly identical rollout just earlier this month.

With so many new handhelds on the market, and some making their claim as premium devices, it’s no surprise that AYANEO is making sure people continue to associate the brand with top-tier engineering — and pricing.

All of AYANEO’s devices have been classified as expensive, but there’s at least a good reason for them to be. OLED panels, high-end chipsets, and strong presentations with incredibly well-built body designs. The Pocket S featured a Snapdragon G3X Gen2, the same chipset found in the AYANEO Pocket DMG.

The company reveals its newest flagship gaming handheld alongside Qualcomm’s own premiere of its next flagship gaming chipset at the Game Developers Conference on March 17.

Even though the products may be overly powerful and expensive to simply define them as retro-first handhelds, we’re excited to see what the company has in store.
