Just a few days ago, we gave our analysis of leaked Legion Go renders and proposed changes we could spot from them but now, it appears the Lenovo Legion Go S specs have been fully leaked.
The Legion Go S is poised to be one-half of the next generation of Lenovo’s handheld PC consoles. Last year, in 2023, they launched the original Lenovo Legion Go which was seen as competition to the Steam Deck. It did sacrifice some features and additions that make the Steam Deck worthwhile, like utilizing Windows as opposed to SteamOS.
However, now Lenovo aims to launch two different versions of the Legion Go S, one with Steam and one with Windows. If spec sheets are to be believed, there is no currently known reason why someone would be unable to install SteamOS or Windows on a device meant for the opposite — but this is working off of reports.
Consumer Friendly ≠Compromise
While the original Legion Go featured AMD’s Ryzen Zen4 with RDNA3, the Go S will take a slight downgrade and feature the Ryzen Z2 Go with Zen3+ and RDNA2. With small downgrades like this in place, it’s evermore clear that Lenovo is trying to introduce a less expensive option to their lineup that can still maintain the same standards of gameplay while cutting out some of the raw processing power to run more demanding titles.
As detailed in our write-up of the Legion Go 2 and S renders, Lenovo is planning to launch both Windows and SteamOS versions of their upcoming handheld. While the leak only makes note of what to expect in the Windows version of the S, it’s possible the same specs will be present in the Steam variant, with the only difference being the preinstalled OS.
The Legion Go S is, as it seems, meant to be Lenovo’s entry-level handheld when compared to its bigger and more powerful counterparts.
Lenovo Legion Go S Specs
Other noticeable changes that were originally spotted via the render leak are that the Go S is not going to have detachable controllers like Legion handhelds before it. As seen above, it also sacrifices screen resolution and overall screen size whereas the 2023 model Go and upcoming Go 2 house an 8.8-inch 2560 x 1900 screen.
- APU: Ryzen Z2 Go (8-core Zen3+)
- GPU: Radeon 800M Series (RDNA2)
- Display: 8-inch, 1920 x 1200, 120Hz
- Storage: 512GB/1TB PCle Gen4x4 NVMe
- Memory: 16GB/32GB LPPDR5X
The Go 2 will also be one of the first device releases at its size to feature an OLED panel. In comparison, the Steam Deck OLED features a 7-inch OLED panel, nearly a whole two inches smaller than the upcoming Go 2.
What’s Next?
The leaks we’re seeing are happening at a fast pace. The last time we saw leaks, we were dealing with renders and trying to decipher the meaning behind buttons and design choices, but just a short five days later, we’re already analyzing specs and comparisons.
CES 2025 is kicking off on January 7th, and with this much anticipation and hype leading into an announcement, it would be no surprise if Lenovo revealed all during the
