It hasn’t been the greatest year for game collectors, as the debate rages on about whether you actually own the games you purchase or not. We don’t live in the good ole’ days when the game you purchase would just work every time you put it in your console. Well, Atari and Activision are trying to bring back the good times with a surprise.
The companies have partnered to re-release 39 games from the original Atari 2600, and we aren’t talking about digitally. Nope, these are physical cartridges with the first batch slated to be released later this year.

There are four “Collections” in total, with the Treasure Collection being first up on the docket. This collection is comprised of ten games in total, including the following:
- Pitfall!
- River Raid
- Freeway
- MegaMania
- Chopper Command
- Sky Jinks
- Dragster
- Dolphin
- Barnstorming
- Grand Prix
In addition to the physical cartridges, each game box includes “a collectible, woven patch, and enamel pin.” These will be the same items found when each of the upcoming Collections are released. In terms of compatibility, Atari says each of these games “s compatible with the Atari 2600+, 7800+, as well as the original Atari 2600 and 7800 consoles.”
As for pricing, the Treasure Collection will set you back $249.99, but you’ll also be able to find select “Standard Edition” games over on the Atari website. Or, you can go for the entire kit-and-caboodle and get all four Collections via the Ultimate Deluxe Set for a cool $999.96.
Oh and if you want absolutely everything that Atari and Activision are releasing, there’s the “Superfan Bundle.” It includes all four Deluxe Collections, 10 Edition Games, 12 metal trading cards, along with the Woven Patch and Enamel Pin with each Deluxe Edition Game. How much is that? Just $1349.86 and it can be yours.
Pre-orders are open for the Treasure Collection and a few of the other bundles starting today. The Treasure Collection is expected to begin shipping sometime in November 2026, just in time for the holidays.
