ROCKNIX has become one of the big mainstays of the handheld community’s Linux side. The team has been regularly putting out nightly updates on a regular basis for dozens of devices. But as of June 1st, the team has officially put out their first stable update since May 17th of 2025.
What does that mean for you? If you’ve been on their stable releases for their devices, you’ve either got a lot to update, or you might have a brand new device that they support.
The Big Updates
Normally, we could place the changelog here, and allow you to read through that. But since this is the first stable release from the ROCKNIX team in over a year, this changelog is over 70,000 characters, and 1,400 lines. Which would make for quite the long article. So here are a couple of things I felt were major updates, and you’ll find a link to the page with their changelog, below.
New Devices

At the time of their last stable release, there were 49 devices and their variants listed as supported by the Rocknix team. As of the latest June 1st, 2026 release, we’re looking at closer to 66 devices and their variants, increasing the total number of supported devices in a stable release by 35%.
Some of the major new devices supported by Rocknix include the follow:
- AYN Odin 3
- AYN Thor
- AYN Thor Lite
- Retroid Pocket 6 (Top and Bottom D-pad)
- Mangmi Air X (MQ66, 66B, 65 Variants)
- Ayaneo Pocket Ace
- Ayaneo Pocket DMG
- Ayaneo Pocket EVO
- Ayaneo Pocket DS
- Ayaneo Pocket S (2K Screen)
- Ayaneo Pocket S2
- Konkr Pocket Fit
- Anbernic RG Vita Pro
- Anbernic RG DS
Alongside updates to support these Android devices, came additional support for the full H700 lineup, and a number of RK3326 clones and new devices.
Additional Updates
Alongside new device support came a number of new features throughout the year. Some of which we’ve talked about, and some of which have gone under the radar for the last year. First is a couple of updates and changes to the emulators present in the massive changelog. Again though, the full changelog can be found here.
- New Emulators:
- FEX-emu
- Steam
- Vita3K
- TouchHLE
- SkyEmu
- Removed Emulators:
- duckstation-lr
As for other smaller things, there were multiple changes and updates for Achievements, PortMaster, Driver’s support, OTG, Screen updating, and of course updates to controller support to make sure everything is running as smooth as possible. With most people using ROCKNIX on their devices anyways, you’re probably up to date with most of these changes from the last year if you’re sticking to their Nightlies.
But if this is your first time checking ROCKNIX out, because maybe you have one of those newly supported devices. This really is the best time to get into it.
And maybe use the ROCKNIX SD Burner tool while you’re at it.
