It would appear that the excitement for the KONKR Pocket Advance might’ve been more than many expected. During the most recent “Sharing Session“, AYANEO CEO Arthur Zhang revealed that more than 20,000 units have been sold via JD.com. For reference, this is the largest online retailer in China, meaning that this figure only accounts for domestic sales.
Arthur didn’t reveal the numbers for how many Pocket Advances have been sold through the AYANEO website. However, we have to assume that it’s a fairly sizable amount. This is likely the reason why we keep seeing new colors being announced, as AYANEO is trying to appeal to as much of the market as possible.
Of course, the flip side of this is that if you placed an order for one of the original colors, you’ll have to reach out to AYANEO support if you want to switch it for another color. It’s not that big of a deal, but considering that the ONYX ICE colorway that was announced today won’t be shipping until the end of October, it’s just a bit disappointing.
Nevertheless, we applaud AYANEO for selling so many devices in less than a week, along with introducing different color options for the Pocket Advance. So far, my Retro Gray preorder seems to be safe, but that might change rather quickly if Arthur comes back with another livestream to unveil a “Glacier” colorway.
Curiously, Arthur stated that only 500 ONYX ICE units would be available for sale outside of China, but at the time of this writing, both the 3GB and 4GB models can still be purchased from the AYANEO website. Nevertheless, I’d recommend getting your order in sooner rather than later before it sells out completely.
