It would appear as though we’re getting more and more horizontal handhelds, with PowKiddy tossing another contender in the ring. The PowKiddy RGB10 Max 3 just went up for pre-order and it can be yours for $90.
While it might look like a competitor to the Odin 2 or Pocket AIR, it doesn’t take long to see that’s not the case. Apparently, PowKiddy has trucks full of the Rockchip RK3566, and that’s the chip powering the Max 3. Of course, this is the same chip that’s found in the RG ARC-D/S, RGB30, and many other Anbernic devices.
All this means is that the RGB10 Max 3 can emulate up to the Nintendo DS, while also handling some N64, Dreamcast, and PSP games. But don’t plan on using this for any newer consoles, as the performance drops off pretty quickly. On the bright side, PowKiddy includes dual microSD card slots, with TF1 being used for the software and TF2 for all of your games.

Something that makes this release so interesting is thanks to the recent Anbernic RG556 leaks. Both it and the RGB10 Max 3 are horizontal handhelds, but the RG556 seems to be more ergonomic. Basically, both Anbernic and now PowKiddy are trying to get new handhelds out to compete with Retroid’s Pocket 4 and Pocket 4 Pro.
Colors
As for color options, it’s only currently available in either Yellow or Transparent Blue. However, if you head over to the pre-order page, you’ll see PowKiddy has plans for a few more colors. The only downside is that you can’t pre-order these just yet. But if you hold out a little longer, PowKiddy states “other colors will be launched one after another.”
Where to Buy
You can jump in on the pre-sale of the RGB10 Max 3 over at PowKiddy’s website. If you use code MAX3GOOD at checkout, you can save yourself another $20, bringing the price down to $69 (nice).
