If you’ve been wondering what the next handheld was going to be, the wait might almost be over. It seems that Anbernic is gearing up to release yet another device, but this one looks pretty familiar. The Anbernic RG35XX 2024 is in the works, and we’re here to share some details about what to expect.
This release comes as a little bit of a surprise given that the RG35XX Plus continues to be among the best handhelds. Although you could definitely argue that the RG35XX H offers a better form factor. Based on what we understand, the RG35XX 2024 will adopt much of what makes the Plus so great in terms of power and capabilities.
The biggest upgrade comes with the adoption of the Allwinner H700 chipset, as opposed to the Cortex-A9 SoC found in the current RG35XX. This is now paired with 1GB of LPDDR4 RAM, while also implementing the Dual-Core G31 MP2 GPU for better performance.
If things are starting to sound familiar, well, that’s because Anbernic is basically transplanting the internals from the RG35XX Plus. Pretty much everything about the RG35XX 2024 is the same as the 35XX Plus, even down to the dimensions and weight. From what we can tell, the only difference seems to be in the battery, as the RG35XX 2024 uses a 2,600mAh cell, providing up to seven hours of gameplay. This falls a bit short of the 3,300mAh battery found in the RG35XX Plus and H.

On the bright side, we don’t have to try and guess when it comes to what games you’ll be able to play. The RG35XX Plus is capable of playing up to PSP and Dreamcast, with a tiny bit of Saturn mixed in. So, we expect the same to be true of the upcoming RG35XX 2024.

So, basically it’s the plus with the C port logic done correctly.
Seems a bit of a take on if you ask me. Same machine with a worse battery, who the hell wants that? A strange move
