8BitDo has been on a tear recently. Whether it’s their recently released transparent blue Ultimate controller, or the even more over the top Ultimate 3E that just recently released for pre-order. They’ve been out and about putting out awesome new products, colorways, and just things that most can’t help but stop to look at, at the very least.
Well that doesn’t end yet as 8BitDo recently announced their “Designed for XBOX Cozy Collection”. What this means is you’re getting a set of 3, XBOX compatible devices built on 8BitDo’s Ultimate, Keyboard and Mouse lineups, and it’s going to be cute as hell.
When I say a few of these are familiar, I do mean it. Both the 8BitDo R8 Mouse, and Retro 87 Mechanical keyboard are back in form as they’ve always been, but this time they’re taking a new look. Mixing sage green, wooden accents, and a ton of pixel art, everything down to the buttons, knobs, and charging dock have been decked out in cute n cozy woodland creatures. Admittedly this is the part that I’m most excited about, as most users can find themselves the pair and have a solid setup that matches with it. Just get yourself a matching mousepad and wrist rest.
As for the Controller, this isn’t the same 8BitDo Ultimate we’ve seen a few times. This time it’s the 8BitDo Ultimate 3 built for XBOX in a new Mossy Lagoon colorway. That means you expect compatibility with the Xbox consoles, Android, Apple, and x86 devices. You’ll get the adjustable tension joysticks, the charging dock, a new grip mold, and full refinement of everything 8BitDo has been putting into their controllers. While initially I was going to get the awkward sunburnt blush color they had, this one speaks to me even more.
When it comes to pricing, the Ultimate 3 is on Pre-order for $99.99 and will be shipping on September 29th. The Retro R8 is already available for sale for just $59.99, and the Retro 87 is up for a bit of an eyewatering $119.99. If you’re looking for a cute and cuddly cozy collection of console compatible peripherals, this is absolutely the way to do it. I’m just hoping to see 8BitDo do more of this.
