Xbox has been a bit of an interesting case over the last year or so. From a new CEO, to the slashing of massive amounts of staff to the multiple price increases for their consoles due to the ongoing drudge of ram shortages. But amongst all of that there’s been a few good points. Namely Xbox 360 on PC, lower Gamepass prices, and the shining green beacon among it all; the 25th Anniversary Xbox Series X. That’s right; the big green tower of power that is coming out to celebrate Xbox turning 25. And thanks to some extra research and looks, the price point may have been leaked.
According to billbil-kun from Dealabs the Xbox Series X25 special edition is shaping up to be a whopping $899 on release. If you aren’t aware, that’s another $100 more than the standard edition Xbox Series X, and basically the same as what the PS5 Pro costs in the United States. For that price you’re not getting any extra storage or features you wouldn’t get on the standard Xbox Series X. All you’re getting is that prestige and a sick transparent green console and controller. A Controller that’s already been confirmed to be released at the usual $74.99 price tag.
Unfortunately as we all expected; this wasn’t going to be a cheap release, and it definitely shows. Compared to the $299 release price we’re looking at 3x the price of the original console, or nearly double the price compared to $299’s value in 2026. But this is going to be a system that sells out regardless. If not excited fans of Xbox, excited fans of green, or just scalpers who think they can make more money off of the gaming community, there will be a line of people waiting to grab this one. I just might have to pass instead.
Or get the controller cause that green is sick.
