That’s right, guys, after skipping an entire generation, Star Fox returns, and what appears to be a reboot/remake simply titled Star Fox! This comes 10 years after the infamous Star Fox Zero graced two screens on the Wii U and gave many of us a headache. But this also comes only a month after his appearance in the Super Mario Galaxy Movie, so there’s that foresight.

Featuring the same on-rails Arwing and dogfighting action, we are getting a faithful remake of what appears to be an in-between of Star Fox for the SNES and StarFox 64. If you think about it, this is now the 4th remake of the same game, with Star Fox releasing in 1993, its remake Star Fox 64 in 1997, Star Fox 64 remake: Star Fox 3D in 2011, and now 2026’s Star Fox. And the wait? Not long! Because it’s coming out June 25th, 2026! And guys… I think I might buy this one a 4th time.
Star Fox Who?
This Star Fox game features the same mechanics as the previous versions. The game sees you play as Fox McCloud (the guy who annoying people play as in Super Smash Bros), who is part of a special space force thing called Star Fox, which sees character favorites such as Falco (who also appears in Smash), Slippy the Toad, and Peppy the Hare. Oh yes, these guys are all animals. And in this entry, they are VERY animal-like and appear to resemble more of their Super Nintendo counterparts than the Nintendo 64 in terms of art style.

Gameplay takes place in the sky between on-rails 3D shoot-em-up gameplay that’s easy, you dodging in barrel rolling out of the way, to more freeform dog fighting in your spaceship, the Arwing. The gameplay gives you many opportunities to take alternative paths to see new levels or outcomes and adds tremendously to the replayability. The game only takes an hour or two to be the first go-around, with the expectation that you are going to replay the game multiple times to see the different outcomes.

Besides the art style, the game doesn’t appear to change that much in terms of gameplay from The originals. In fact, that seems to be the goal since the game also supports the NSO N64 controller natively. That being said, the game is adding multiple cutscenes, extremely cursed Gamechat support, and mouse mode.

We already have pre-orders, a $50 digital cost, a $60 physical cost, and a release date of June 25th, 2026. So we only have about a month and a half away to give Nintendo’s resurrected child of Miyamoto another shot!
