Blaze is finally cutting the cord: Evercade is getting its own dedicated wireless controller, solving one of the longest‑running headaches for anyone using the VS or docking their handhelds. It’s being pitched as “the controller you’ve all been asking for,” which, judging by years of forum threads about 8BitDo dongles and third‑party pads, isn’t far off.

Details are still light in official channels, but the new pad is designed first and foremost for the Evercade VS-R and Evercade EXP-R, giving Blaze a proper first‑party wireless option, a big quality‑of‑life upgrade for couch play. This is a welcome addition to the lineup, since Evercade has been leaning harder into Neo Geo carts, fighters, and action titles that really benefit from a comfy, lag‑free pad.

Up to now, Evercade players wanting a wireless solution have relied on community‑maintained compatibility lists full of caveats about modes, firmware, and which 8BitDo adapter you dared to buy.

So yeah, this move feels overdue, but also very on‑brand for Blaze’s slow‑and‑steady hardware cadence. The ecosystem just had a solid firmware pass with Neo Geo DIP switches, AES/MVS toggling, and nicer Atari support, so pairing that with an official wireless pad makes the whole platform feel like it’s leveling up a little bit.

Now the real question is: can they nail the d‑pad, latency, and ergonomics, or will people end up sticking with what they’re already using? The Evercade Wireless Controller is listed at £34.99 GBP at British retailer Funstock, so expect it to hover around the $50 mark when it arrives stateside.
