Last week, the MANGMI Pocket Max was teased for the first time, with the company initially giving us just a look at a silhouette. Shortly thereafter, the first teaser video was dropped, revealing a handheld that looks like a combination of AYANEO, AYN, and Retroid, all rolled into one. Now, MANGMI is trying to get feedback about what color options the Pocket Max will be available in when it officially launches.
Instead of deciding for itself, MANGMI is looking for feedback from the public, and as such, there’s a poll in the MANGMI Discord channel for you to cast your vote. Currently, there are three different contenders: White, Retro GB, and Black. For many, the Black will likely be the way to go, especially since the Pocket Max is using an OLED display. And at least for now, the community is leaning in that direction.
That being said, there’s just something about the Retro GB that is calling to me, especially now that my Retro GB Air X has arrived. Admittedly, there does seem to be a little bit of a difference between the two, as the Pocket Max looks more similar to AYANEO’s Pocket Air, and now, Pocket Air Mini. Nevertheless, let’s just hope it’s my eyes playing tricks, or some kind of odd color rendering.
Unsurprisingly, MANGMI has remained quiet in terms of what the Pocket Max specs will be, but rumors and leaks point to the Snapdragon 865 being at the helm. This would put the Pocket Max in-line with the Retroid Pocket 5, Pocket Flip 2, Pocket Mini, and AYN Thor Lite. In doing so, MANGMI should be able to hit the $200 price point, which would be simply insane to see.
No matter which way you slice it, MANGMI is definitely cooking something up. Now, it’s just a matter of whether we’ll learn more about the Pocket Max before the holidays, or after. And if you just want to get a better idea of what MANGMI has to offer, grab one for yourself with the button below.
