Hardware
If there’s one thing we know about retro handhelds, it’s that there is always something new around the corner. Seriously, it’s “worse” than smartphones, as some companies release new handhelds every other week. On the bright side, at least there’s no shortage of options.
Retroid Pocket Flip 2 and Classic Specs, Pricing, Pre-Order Info Revealed
Over the past two weeks, Retroid has been drip-feeding various bits of information for the upcoming Classic. First came the colors, then the stealth announcement of a six-button version, followed by most of the device’s specs.
For the Flip 2, pre-order pricing starts at $189 for the Dimensity 1100 version or $219 for the Snapdragon 865. As for the Classic, we’re looking at either $114 or $124, depending on if you want 4GB/64GB or 6GB/128GB. Not only that, but Retroid is offering a bundle deal where you get both handhelds for $328.

Game Console MyMini Has an Outie Belly Button
There is no shortage of devices with mindbending designs, and Game Console is adding to that list with their new MyMini handheld. The Game Console MyMini looks like a Miyoo Mini Plus but it adds an analog stick smack-dab in the middle of the device. Why? Solely because they can, I’d guess.
Is Anbernic About to Shake Up the Retro Handheld Space?
Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve heard rumblings of Anbernic potentially gearing up for its first launch of 2025. However, instead of being a device that hits you with nostalgia feels, we could be looking at a successor to the RG556.
This handheld is said to be powered by a “Snapdragon Custom G2” processor, paired with 8GB of RAM, and a 5.5-inch 1080p touchscreen display. After doing a bit of research, the RG557 will most likely be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon G2 Gen 1, which was first introduced back in 2023. If this is the case, then we should be in store for a decent performance boost over the Unisoc T820 from the RG556.
Is Powkiddy Releasing a V90 Refresh?
During a livestream of the Retro Handhelds podcast, James Dewitz, a photographer and developer focused on Powkiddy devices, shared the news that the company may be preparing to release a new, updated version of their V90.

Apps and Software
Don’t get me wrong, hardware is definitely fun and exciting to talk about. But what good is an awesome handheld if it doesn’t even work? That’s where software and custom firmware come into play, so here’s everything you might’ve missed this week.”
Another Wave of DMCA Requests Takes Down Multiple Ryujinx Forks
Nintendo decided that it was time to have some more fun as it prepares for the Switch 2 launch. Another wave of DMCA requests were filed over at GitHub, taking down many of the remaining Ryujinx forks that have been hanging around. Thankfully, it hasn’t taken them all down, but I’d recommend making sure you have the latest available build downloaded somewhere just in case.
muOS Pixie Introduces an Overhauled Retro Experience
It’s crazy to think that it’s been three months since the last major release of muOS. Thankfully, the wait is now over, as muOS Pixie is now available for compatible devices. The changelog is about a mile long, so if you want to see everything that’s new, just head over to the muOS website. Or, you can be like me and just download/install the latest release because of pure excitement.
MinUI Next is Now NextUI, Adds New Features in 2.0 Update
NextUI, formerly known as MinUI Next, has released its 2.0 update, bringing cover art, scrolling titles, and fixes to its game switcher. Using MinUI as a base, NextUI reintroduces some of the features that users may have missed or would like to see brought to MinUi despite its overall dedication to being bare in its presentation.
3DS Emulator Azahar’s First Release Candidate Now Available
The first Azahar Release Candidate includes some of the major differences between Lime3DS, Citra, and the PabloMK7 fork. Support has been dropped for the .3DS file extension and encrypted apps while adding a new way of acquiring the 3DS system files through the also-new Artic System Tool, a 3DS homebrew app, and disabling right-eye rendering, which can drastically improve performance on select 3DS titles by up to 50%.
Suyu Is No More, But It’s Not Because of Nintendo
It seems that we missed this originally, but Suyu, one of the more popular Yuzu forks, is hanging it up. Unlike others, this had nothing to do with Nintendo but was for a variety of reasons. In the announcement, it’s explained that “leadership had been disinterested” and that “the web service has been broken for ages and nobody is willing to rewrite it.” It’s a pretty sad ending for what started out as one of the more exciting Yuzu forks at the time.

Powkiddy V20 First Impressions: If It Ain’t Broke
In 2025 there haven’t been a whole lot of handhelds coming out of the floodgates, but that doesn’t mean the few and far between have been bad. Some of them just have a single stick right in the center of the device. But that isn’t the case with the Powkiddy V20. They’re taking a step towards a brand-new chip, and off the bat, I think they’ve got something nice. So here are the first impressions that might be what you’re looking for.
BatleXP G350 Setup Guide and Tutorial
At $37 delivered to my door, I can’t find too much to complain about, but we are a tinkering bunch, and I want to compare all the options out there. So if you’ve just picked up the BatleXP G350 too, let’s take a look at what options the community already has cooking up.
How to Downgrade Retroid Pocket Mini to Android 10
Retroid has said that updating to Android 13 isn’t recommended; mostly due to the battery and RAM management they’ve fine-tuned for Android 10 specifically. So, what are you to do if you’re on Android 13 and just want to return everything back to the way it was?
