Earlier this week, Anbernic confirmed that the RG406H is on the way, and with that, we’re beginning to see the faucet open. We can confirm both pricing and specs for Anbernic’s next handheld, and it pretty much matches up exactly the way we thought.
Under the hood, the RG406H is practically identical to the RG406V, starting with the 4-inch IPS touchscreen display. The Unisoc T820 is at the helm, paired with the Mali-G57 GPU, 8GB of LPDDR4X, and 128GB of onboard storage. Don’t worry, there’s also a microSD card slot with support for up to 2TB of external storage.
Thanks to the 5,000mAh battery, Anbernic claims the RG406H will last for up to 7 hours, and will take 3 hours to re-charge. We also have a few obvious inclusions, such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, to go along with the RGB joysticks, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Speaking of which, the RG406H features both Hall Effect joysticks and triggers, a welcome inclusion.

Price and Availability
One of the big questions surrounding the Anbernic RG406H was the price, especially considering that the Retroid Pocket 5 and Pocket Mini are now available. Well, it seems that Anbernic is going to try and undercut both, as the RG406H is priced at $167.99.
We don’t yet know when pre-orders will commence, but we do know that you’ll be able to save a few bucks. If you pre-order the RG406H within the first 72 hours, the price is down to $157.99, so you’ll be saving $10. That’s a pretty darn good deal, especially considering how well the RG406V performs.
My own Retroid Pocket 5 is on the way, and I’m really intrigued to see whether the RG406H compares to the latest from Retroid.
