Are you the type that likes to throw your money at any e-waste handheld that lands on AliExpress? Well, get your wallet ready as the SJGAM M21 is expected to arrive any day now.
In true SJGAM fashion, the M21 is another clone hitting the market. But instead of cloning something like the RG Cube, the M21 is a clone of the Game Console R36S. Yes, the same R36S which is the successor to a clone of the Powkiddy RGB20S.
In some of the provided marketing material, the M21 is also being called the “R36S Mini.” This is comical for multiple reasons, the least of which being that the M21 and R36S both feature a 3.5-inch screen.
Honestly, it’s not all that crazy for SJGAM to release a clone of a clone. But I’m very confused about the processor that’s being listed, as the specs breakdown says that it’s powered by the “N909.” Apparently, this is a dual-core CPU with clocks ranging between 1.2GHz and 1.8GHz. While I wasn’t able to find anything about this chip, this is apparently capable of playing up to PS1 games.
The rest of the comes as you’d expect, complete with dual-thumbsticks, a 3.5mm headphone jack, function keys, and more. It even has volume buttons, something that can’t be said about the Powkiddy V10. SJGAM is also expected to offer four different colors, which include White, Grey, Purple, and Black.
When you consider that the R36S can be had for around $35-$40, one would hope the M21/R36S Mini would be even less. It seems that will be the case, as it’s expected to cost no more than $30.
Incorrect button layout aside, that’s actually pretty impressive. Especially when you consider that the M21 has an HDMI port, allowing you to use the included controller to play it on your TV.
We’ll be keeping a close watch on the M21 and await its arrival on AliExpress. At which point either Ban or Nick will (probably) be the first two to add to their piles of e-waste.
