Leave it to AYN to give us a surprise announcement while the community is still buzzing about dual-screen handhelds. No, we don’t have an AYN Thor 2 on the way or anything, but instead, the AYN Odin 3 Portal has been officially introduced.

No details about the Odin 3 Portal have been revealed, but we do know that the handheld will look practically identical to its predecessor, the Odin 2 Portal. This isn’t all that surprising as AYN wants to keep the shell design separate for its Portal line, while also being able to accommodate what we expect to be a larger display.

Provided that AYN throws us a curve ball, we can pretty much surmise that the Odin 3 Portal will share many of the same specs as the Odin 3. That is, as long as AYN follows the same trend that it did with the Odin 2 and Odin 2 Portal.

It will likely be powered by the Snapdragon Dragonwing Q8, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Given the ongoing rise in component costs, I highly doubt we’ll see an “Odin 3 Portal Ultra” variant made available, but hey, maybe AYN can surprise everyone, even if it’s for a limited run.

Hopefully we won’t have too much longer to wait for the rest of the details to emerge about the AYN Odin 3 Portal. But if one thing is for sure, if you want to pick one up, you’ll probably want to start saving your shekels now.

  1. Personally I’ll stick with the Odin 3 Max I just picked up until it’s out of date / not able to handle things. The frequency that the handhelds are coming out isn’t great, the market is getting flooded and people will end up waiting for the next announcement to avoid FOMO.
