In case you’ve missed it, One-Netbook, one of the prominent x86 manufacturers of the past few years, has partnered with Qualcomm to produce and release the OneXSugar. One-Netbook describes this as being the “1st Dual-Screen Transformable Handheld.” It dips, dives, flips, and flops, but what is it, how much is it, and where can you find it?

Specs and pricing are the main things to look at, and that’s a pretty easy thing to cover. For the first 72 hours, you can get the Sugar 1 for $599, and after that, they’ll be asking for a larger $669 price tag. On the Indiegogo campaign, they note that the full price will likely be $799, though you’ll likely be able to find them on sale regularly.

For that money, you’re getting a handheld paired with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon G3 Gen 3. This lands it as essentially a souped-up 8 Gen 3 and the successor to the Snapdragon G3X Gen 2 we saw in most AYANEO Android handhelds from the past year. You’re also getting the Adreno A32 GPU, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage.

As for the rest of the specs, you’re looking at dual displays, the first being a 6.01″ 18:9 display with a resolution of 1080×2160 and a secondary display that’s 3.92″ with a resolution of 1080×1240 and aspect ratio of 8:7. Which is essentially the screens found in the Retroid Pocket Classic, AYANEO Pocket DMG and Retroid Pocket Mini V2.

All of this runs Android 14, with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, and a, what could be described as anemic, 5600mAh battery. Retro Game Corps commented on battery life within his review of the OneXSugar.

With all that being said, you’re looking at 4 different use cases for controls. A single screen with controls on the side, that same screen with controls underneath, a dual screen with the small display below, and a dual screen with the smaller display above.

One of the biggest concerns in regards to this handheld comes down to the multiple points of failure that you may come across with all of the hinges present. That being said, this may be one device to recommend watching device reviews first before making your decision.

At the time of writing, the OneXSugar has 330 backers, and about 30 days left of their Indiegogo campaign. You should have plenty of time to make a decision on your purchase.
