When you think about the sheer number of controllers that 8Bitdo has released over the years, it’s pretty insane. However, something that we had yet to see from 8BitDo is a telescopic controller. Well, that’s no longer the case as the 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller has landed on Amazon.
The competition in this space is rather fierce, but largely dominated by GameSir with its telescopic controllers that cater to devices of varying sizes. As for 8Bitdo’s offering, it’s designed specifically with Android devices in mind and is said to fit sizes ranging between 100mm to 170mm. For reference, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is just north of 153mm when unfolded, while the Lenovo Y700 (2023) is 208.9mm.

Some of the other features of 8BitDo’s Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller include Hall Effect joysticks and triggers. We also have two “Pro” back paddle buttons, along with Profile, Turbo, and Macro buttons. Plus, you can connect this to the 8Bitdo Ultimate Software app and remap the buttons to your liking, while also making adjustments to both the joysticks and triggers.

I have to admit that I’m a bit surprised to see this limited to Android devices. 8Bitdo is relying on a Bluetooth connection, as opposed to USB-C. That is enough reason to think that this would work with iOS devices. However, we’ll just have to wait until we can get our hands on one to find out.
