SUMEE! is a slick new iOS frontend that focuses on doing pretty much everything, and it is already out in public testing via TestFlight.

At first glance, SUMEE! looks like yet another all-in-one setup in the growing crowd on iOS, sitting alongside things like Manic, DraStic, and the ever‑present RetroArch. The difference is where it puts its energy. SUMEE! ships with built-in cores for NES, SNES, N64, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, PlayStation, and Genesis, but the focus is on aesthetic and using your entire phone with a controller

The app pulls clear inspiration from iiSU, and the dev is not shy about that. Animations, cover art, and navigation all lean into that same 3DS vibe, which should pair really well with a Backbone, Razer Kishi, or whatever controller you already use. Early testers are already treating it as their main launcher when a controller is attached, which already means it’s more usable than iiSU.

One of the ways it attempts to be useful beyond being a simple game frontend is the ability to share App Store titles into SUMEE! and have them show up in the same unified library, complete with controller‑first launching, though that bit is still rough around the edges. The developer is active in the community Discord, squashing bugs for its 10,000 users and teasing an eventual App Store release.

If you are waiting for the iOS gaming UX experience to start catching up to Android’s offerings, SUMEE!’s offering is closing the gap. Just plug in a controller and forget you’re inside that walled garden for a beat.
