While many of us are looking forward to seeing what new handhelds might arrive at CES 2025, there’s another handheld looming around the corner. And now, dbrand is helping to build up the hype as the popular device skin and case maker might’ve just spoiled a bit of the Nintendo Switch 2 surprise.

This latest “leak” comes via dbrand, as the company published a new landing page for its Killswitch 2 case for the Switch 2. The page doesn’t show anything other than a render of Nintendo’s next supposed gaming handheld housed within a case. But, does reveal a few things about the Switch 2.

Notably, the rendered animation shows the Switch 2 coming with Red and Blue Joy-Cons, just like the original. However, it seems that Nintendo might have listened to criticism about the ergonomics, as the animation shows that the Joy-Cons will have a slight curve, making them more comfortable to hold.

From there, everything else about the Joy-Cons appear to be the same, with one exception. On the right controller, there’s a new button found just below the “Menu” button. We’re unsure what this new button will do, but hopefully it will be a bit more useful than the Capture button.

In speaking to The Verge, dbrand CEO Adam Ijaz states that this animation was created “based on a 3D scan of the real hardware.” These measurements also seem to confirm that the Switch 2 “will both be larger and taller than Nintendo’s Switch OLED.”

Circling back to the Joy-Cons, Ijaz shared that the “Joy-Cons are ‘magnetically attached’ with an ‘ejection button’ that’s on the back of the Joy-Cons near the top.” We’ve long heard rumors about Nintendo’s plans to rely on magnets with its next Switch, but it’s not a new concept. The now-defunct Pimax Portal looked quite similar to a Switch but relied on very powerful magnets to connect the controllers to the body.

Unfortunately, Ijaz couldn’t offer any indication as to when the Switch 2 will be officially unveiled. Instead, he explained that “dbrand is working toward a late March or early April release for its case.”

Nevertheless, we have a feeling this won’t be the last Nintendo Switch 2 leak that we’ll see. Especially if Nintendo ends up waiting until April 2025, which is the self-imposed deadline that the company set for its next gaming handheld.
