Jalanimal: Sackboy: A Big Adventure
- Played on: Steam Deck OLED
Not having a PS3-5, I get so excited to play the Sony games on PC. Playing Sackboy: A Big Adventure on my Steam Deck. It’s really fun so far and reminds me of Super Mario 3D World.
Nick: Trip World
- Played on: TrimUI Brick
It has been all things TrimUI Brick this week. The Brick has been the perfect companion to grab a quick play session in between various holiday to-dos. Trip World is this week’s GotW, and it’s exactly the sort of game (one I was unlikely to find in the haystack) that makes me thankful for this community! Far from perfect, but it has a cute aesthetic, controls are decent, and the soundtrack is bound to stick with you.
Ban: Forza Horizon 3
- Played on: Ayaneo Air 1S
I finally got it working on a handheld, so it was time to feed my handheld addiction with even more Forza Horizon. This time it’s FH3 on the Air 1S.
Zu: Putting up lights
- Played on: In the snow
Joe: Sonic Adventure DX: Director’s Cut
- Played on: Retroid Pocket 5
Day 10 of setting up the RP5 and I am so close to perfection on this glazed Long John donut I can taste the icing. Anyways, in a Sonic mood and I’m pleasantly surprised how well 4:3 looks on this 16:9 screen, so Sonic Adventure for the GameCube has been on my rotation of toilet-titles.
ToddTronics: Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition Remix
- Played on: RG406H > RP Mini > Steam Deck OLED > RP5 > Razer Edge
Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition Remix on AetherSX2 I started it on the 406RH moved my save to the RP Mini then the Steam Deck OLED then to the RP5 then to the Razer Edge.
Bas: Toki Tori
- Played on: ModRetro Chromatic
I got one of these in to review and will be diving into Toki Tori, a classic from a Dutch developer I’ve got a soft spot for.
Shawn: Mega Man 2
- Played on: Anbernic RG406H
This week is Mega Man 2 from the NES on the RG406H. Last time, I said I was going to try and do all of the Mega Man X games from the SNES, but I decided a better use of my time was to play the classic 11 first, so that’s…what I’m doing.
It has been nothing but pain since I’ve started this journey. Truly don’t know how I beat any of these games as a kid.
Liquid Divide: Yakuza Zero
- Played on: Steam Deck
Still slowly playing through Yakuza Zero for this week. Made it to chapter 3 and started Majima’s story. Such a great game though. Definitely recommend playing through this series. Really fun story and mechanics with plenty of mini-games and side quests to keep you busy for hours beyond the main plot.
What YOU’RE Playing
Shawn: Dragon’s Revenge
- Played on: Anbernic RG35XX
Dragon’s Revenge is just a fun pinball game to relax and unwind with at the end of the day.
Kelsie: Mario Golf (GBC)
- Played on: Powkiddy RGB30
It’s a fun pick-up-and-play golf game that has pretty much 0 to do with Mario but is oddly addictive.

Just Started Zelda Wind Waker on Odin 2 Pro
Even better with Hypatias HD texture pack!
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Dave the Diver, Metal Slug 4.
Ive been playing FF7Rb for a bit but definitely love to mix it up with retro games. DTD is new but plays like a retro and is great so far! Who can go wrong with the MEtal Slug series??? Working my way thru all of them again, and I love it!
All great games! I loved DTD. Such a fun gameplay loop. I need to go back and play more myself!
Worth it for the free DLC
Super Metroid Redux on the 40xx.
Redux has a “hard” mode and the option to increase gravity so Samus feels similar to the GBA games. It’s a great time 👍
That sounds great! I may need to give the game another try with that. Are playing for GOTM or just for fun? Care if we may feature your answer in our article in the future?
Not at all, please do! 👍
And it’s just for fun. I’ve done one GOTY before but personal life is just a weeee bit busy to finish games (even Super Metroid) in that time window right meow.
Strife, Super Metroid, Devil may Cry. Basically all 3 GOTM I beat. Wendy as well in GOTW. But my banger now is The Godfather for PS2, the offer that I just can’t refuse
All the GOTM are done. Now is Pepsiman on PS1 and K1 World Grand Prix on PS2
did they finally finish the translation of star ocean: blue sphere? or is stubbs playing the unfinished translation that’s been out for a while?
Just finished Pokémon Fire Red on my 35xx SP, and I’m currently playing Outer Wilds in my Steam Deck. What an amazing game!!!
Iron Meat on Ally X Streets of Rage 4 RG556.
Chained Echoes on Steam Deck OLED
Picked it up on sale recently and have been hooked. The retro aesthetic combined with a ton of quality of life improvements over the classics makes it a big win in my book.
How is Vampire Survivors still relevant almost 3 years later? Because they keep adding updates and free DLC, and the DLC is very inexpensive but immensely fun.
