With the calendar flipped into November, that means we’re even closer to the launch of the AYN Odin 3 Portal. Over the past few days, the company has shared a couple of updates regarding its latest flagship handheld, including some “glamour” shots.
At the end of last week, AYN showed off its upcoming handheld with a series of pictures, giving us a better look at what we can expect. Namely, these images do a pretty good job at showing off the “fingerprint-resistant AG glass finish” on the front. And I must admit that they’re only enticing me even more to pick up an Odin 3 Portal for myself.

There has been a minor update to the specs for the Odin 3 Portal with AYN sharing the following announcement:
Following a final review of the product specifications, we would like to clarify the maximum charging rate of the Odin 3 Portal.
Due to an internal documentation discrepancy during the preparation of the product materials, the charging rate was previously listed as 60W. The finalized design specification and actual product configuration support a maximum charging rate of 45W.
The Odin 3 Portal will be manufactured and delivered according to the finalized 45W specification. The relevant product information has also been updated on the product page to reflect the confirmed specifications.
This is a bit of a surprising development, seeing as it’s actually a decrease in charging speed compared to the Odin 3, despite both handhelds sharing the same chipset. Perhaps the change was made to the charging component for the Portal, but at least for now, it appears this is only limited to AYN’s upcoming handheld. Nevertheless, while the decreased charging speeds might be disappointing, 45W is still a major improvement over the 27W speeds found in the Odin 2 Portal.
If you’ve been on the fence, there’s still time to pre-order the Odin 3 Portal at a discount. Shipping is said to begin “in early November,” which is obviously a bit vague, but we’ll be sure to let everyone know once we’re made aware.
