There’s been a lot of hard news coming out of the XBOX this year. From layoffs and releasing studios back to the wild to price increases and discontinuations for consoles. If feels like we haven’t been able to go a month without hearing something big happening at XBOX. While the new CEO has been making important changes, like making Bethesda actually do something, there’s been a shift announced as of today, and it’s absolutely worth talking about. And that’s XBOX bringing backwards compatibility for OG XBOX games to PC.
Announced earlier today, XBOX shared that they’re bringing four original XBOX games to PC, and whether you choose to play them through Gamepass or pick them up in the XBOX store for just $10, you will have your choices for what you want to play, and how you want to play them. The four games included in this list for today are: BLiNX: The Time Sweeper, Conker Live and Reloaded, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, and Fuzion Frenzy.
While these games have been on XBOX consoles themselves for a while, the idea of bringing them to PC’s easily without emulation is likely a great idea to many, helping to alleviate the friction of actually playing these games. There is a list of minimum requirements, and honestly for PC they aren’t too bad.

When you consider that the minimum system requirements include a brand new $120 GPU, an entry level GPU from 2017, or just flatout integrated graphics from 2021, you know this isn’t going to be a hard thing to run. But the nicest inclusion is that we know off the bat this will be compatible with your XBOX Rog Ally line of handhelds. So if you want to play these on the go, we might have finally found the easiest way to do it. I just can’t wait to see what they bring up next.
