Capcom’s 80s-era Disney classics are finally heading to Nintendo hardware and they’re picking up a couple of important Super Nintendo stragglers on the way. The Disney Afternoon Collection has appeared on the Japanese eShop for both Switch and Switch 2, confirming a February 26, 2026 release date and a welcome upgrade over the 2017 version.

Originally released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, the collection bundled DuckTales, DuckTales 2, Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers 1 and 2, Darkwing Duck, and TaleSpin, all NES titles, and all conspicuously absent from Nintendo’s own console at the time. The new listing shows the set coming in at 2,300 yen (around 15 dollars), with a small introductory discount at launch.

The bigger news is what’s being added. This re-release folds in two SNES titles missing from the original package: Bonkers, a side-scrolling platformer, and Goof Troop, a top-down co-op adventure. Goof Troop also carries some historical weight, as it’s one of the first games designed by Shinji Mikami, three years before he directed the original Resident Evil.

There’s another wrinkle: Atari is now listed as the publisher, reflecting its acquisition of developer Digital Eclipse, even though this is still Capcom’s Disney back catalog. It’s an odd branding combination on paper, but a logical one given Digital Eclipse’s focus on archival-style collections and Atari’s recent push into retro archival and even competing consoles.

The Switch version effectively closes a long-running gap, putting these late-’80s and early-’90s adaptations on a portable Nintendo system with modern conveniences and, finally, their 16-bit counterparts alongside them. Assuming the Western release matches the Japanese listing, this looks like the definitive way to keep those Disney Afternoon intros playing in your head long after the credits roll.
