Lenovo has released an official controller charging station for their Legion Go controllers.

Lenovo recently caused a splash at CES 2025 after officially announcing the Legion Go S and Legion Go 2. The S variant sacrifices some noteworthy features of the original Go like detachable controllers, and downgrades its specs to keep its cost lower as the PC handheld market continues to grow.

Lenovo Goes Different

Each of the Legion Go devices offers something slightly different for gamers looking to jump into the world of handheld PCs. The first Legion Go offered gamers a strong PC-like device while mimicking some of the key features of the Switch like its dock and removable controllers.

The Go S is more positioned against the Steam Deck as it lacks removable controllers, becoming an all-encompassing handheld that still allows for HDMI-out, but usurps Valve’s handheld with an entire extra inch of screen real estate.

The differences between the Go and Go S can be analogous to the Switch and the Switch Lite, in some respects. It’s a smaller handheld, its controllers can’t be detached and it has a smaller screen. Lenovo differs from Nintendo in its attention to power and PC gamer-first attitude.

The Switch is now entering its 8th year on the market. When it was originally released in 2017, even then it was considered a paltry competitor to other tablets that also tuned their gears towards gaming. But Nintendo always finds a way to prioritize development and gameplay, and now we are only 10 million units away from it being the highest-selling console of all time.

Charging Connector Features

Lenovo’s new controller dock bears a slight resemblance to the Switch 2 Joy-Con dock that was leaked by Genki right before CES 2025 kicked off. It has an angled docking station appearance, and the controllers seem to slide right on similar to how original joy-con would. But then it gets even better.

The Lenovo Charging Connector doubles as an ergonomic controller unit as well. Its USB cable can used to simultaneously charge the set of controllers while also acting as a wired controller for those who would prefer to detach and play their games separately from the device’s main screen.

With a built-in 2850mAh battery, Lenovo claims the new charging connection will double the expected battery life of the controller set. The company also claims numerous battery-related protections like temperature, voltage, and over-charging control.

The Lenovo Charging Connector with Battery has an MSRP of $49.99 and is shipping immediately.
