The SuiPlay0X1 was initially shown off back in April of 2024, but today, specs, pricing, and a few more details have been revealed.
One of the leading markets in retro handhelds is the super-powered PC handheld. We initially saw the market gain headway with the success of Valve’s SteamDeck, and shortly thereafter, the floodgates opened up with devices like the ASUS ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go. Even AYANEO has teetered the line between a powerful PC handheld and simply a powerful handheld with their KUN, Air Plus, and 2S.
But the difference between those handhelds and the SuiPlay0x1 is the foundational reliance on the blockchain.
Blockchain Gaming?
Most PC handhelds rely solely on their own power and the promises therein to sell their units, but SuiPlay is aiming to incorporate Web3 mainstays like NFTs, crypto, and decentralization. Some of the promises of Web3 can be utilized through the device while also being fully capable of the standard gaming reliability we see in products today.

For example, the 0x1 is set to allow for play-to-earn, or GameFi, to allow gamers to play their favorite Web3-supported games and, the more they involve themselves in the gameplay and community, they would earn SUI, the crypto token. In some areas of the world, access to alternative money-making avenues like this can open up a world of possibilities that would otherwise not be achievable.
With its incorporation of PlaytronOS, SuiPlay also aims to place its crosshairs on Web3 gaming as well. Web3 games can be found across Steam and some are playable via custom stores like the HyperPlay Store or Immutable, but the SuiPlay0x1 and PlaytronOS are putting these crypto-backed games in the spotlight.

One of the other standout features of the device is its PlaytronOS, an open-source OS that promises to allow for full Windows and PC gameplay, while also being compatible with various online game stores like Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store. Out of the gate, PlaytronOS says it will also work with numerous handhelds already on the market, like the aforementioned Steam Deck and ASUS ROG Ally X.
PlaytronOS
PlaytronOS is a Linux-based OS that ultimately functions in a similar way to Valve’s own Linux-based SteamOS. Playtron, however, claims to focus solely on gaming and nothing more, nothing less. However, it’s hard to say whether the statement stands true or is simply virtuous in its own desires as, realistically, any OS aiming towards gaming would do the same; like Bazzite, Batocera, and any of the OS options we see on cheaper, less powerful handhelds.
With a dedication to Web3 gaming and all the aspects that are found within, SuiPlay may be the first to market a crypto-based handheld that can succeed in what feels like an already crowded arena. Over the past few years, crypto, NFTs, and web3 overall have garnered negative attention either for the processing power used to generate new tokens or the belief that what people purchase holds no “real” value, but despite all of that, there is a market for devices that utilize these new technologies in exciting ways.
If you’re interested in the SuiPlay0x1, it is currently available for pre-order directly on the device’s website starting at $599 USD. Currently, payment can only be made via SOL, SUI, or ETH with no known information stating if standard fiat currencies will be allowed in the future.
