Acer has announced not one, but TWO new gaming handheld at CES 2025. The Acer Nitro Blaze 8 and Nitro Blaze 11 follow in the footsteps of the Nitro Blaze 7 that seemingly never actually materialized. Both of these new Windows handhelds share most of the same specs with the only major difference being the screen size.
As the name denotes, the Nitro Blaze 11 features a massive 10.95-inch display. It offers a 2560 x 1600 resolution to go along with a 144Hz refresh rate, also maxing out at 500 nits of brightness. With the Blaze 8, we have an 8.8-inch IPS display, complete with a 120Hz refresh rate and is also capable of reaching 500 nits of peak brightness.
In terms of power, these utilize the AMD Ryzen 8840HS chip, paired with 16GB of RAM and up to 2TB of NVMe storage. It will be interesting to see how battery life stacks up, as both handhelds only include a 55Wh battery, which is rather paltry compared to the ROG Ally X and it’s 80Wh battery.
While the Nitro Blaze 8 is your more traditional gaming handheld, the Blaze 11 offers a bit more fun. This is, in part, thanks to the built in kickstand to prop it up, which comes in handy considering that you can detach the Blaze 11’s controllers. It’s a trend we’ve been seeing a bit more of, but lacks the “FPS mode” offered by the Lenovo Legion Go.
Being able to prop up and use the Blaze 11 on a table is going to be key, as it weighs a whopping 2.32 pounds. For comparison, the ROG Ally X is 1.49 pounds and the Legion Go is 1.88 pounds. We can’t imagine that it would be particularly comfortable to hold the Blaze 11 without having something to rest your arms on, but maybe Acer worked some magic with the weight distribution.
Pricing for the Nitro Blaze 8 is set to start at $899, while Blaze 11 comes in at $1,099. Both handhelds are expected to arrive sometime in Q2 2025.
We’ll definitely be looking to get our hands on these handhelds on the CES 2025 showroom floor, so keep an eye out for that.

16GB of ram and a 55WH battery for $900 and that’s the less expensive option. Blows my mind how disconnected these companies are with the needs and wants of there targeted consumers. This is a hard pass for me
For reals
So what’s it got in it for a cpu/gpu? What’s $900 get you in 2025?
