As part of an announcement posted on its website, Valve announced a new limited edition white Steam Deck OLED.

The Steam Deck OLED is effectively regarded as one of the most powerful handhelds you can buy in 2024, and its 7-inch OLED screen only adds to its luster. While other retro handhelds struggle to reach PS2 emulation, the Steam Deck can easily swim through its library while also playing full PC titles.

In November of 2023, Valve released its first limited edition Steam Deck OLED in translucent black with 1TB of internal storage to its customers in the United States and Canada. It featured the trademark Valve-orange underneath its analog sticks and on its power button.

It’s Not Just White

Today, in an unexpected announcement, Valve is releasing Steam Deck OLED: Limited Edition White. The white model will also house 1TB of onboard storage but will spread its unique color to its accessories as well.

It will come with a white carrying case, and a white microfiber cloth, but will feature light gray accents throughout the device. The buttons, analog sticks, and triggers are given a gray makeover while the power button retains that trademark orange mentioned above.

Price & Availability

Another difference between this limited edition model and the translucent one before it is that the white model will be available in every region the OLED is currently sold. These regions, at the time of writing, are the US, Canada, UK, EU, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.

Once the white model sells out, Valve says there won’t be a second run. If the translucent OLED model is any indication of how things will go, these will run out quickly.

The white Steam Deck OLED will be available starting Monday, November 18th at 6 PM EST (3 PM PST). It will cost £579 in the UK and EU, $679 USD in the United States, $1,099 for those in Australia, $869 CAD for Canadian residents. For those in Asian countries, Komodo will be the only official retailer selling the device, and they have detailed the price breakdown on their website. Orders will be restricted to one device per account.

To purchase the handheld, your Steam account must have made a purchase before November 2024, and also be in good standing. Without those two prerequisites, you’ll have to wait and see what 3rd party marketplaces can offer in a few months, or offer your soul to a scalper.

With an influx of OLED devices released in recent years like the Switch OLED, Retroid Pocket 5 and Mini, and the newly announced AYANEO 3, the Steam Deck’s power still stands a cut above the rest. With the assurance Valve has earned through its own transparency and support, more variations to get the handheld into more hands are always welcomed.
