SEGA is giving mobile gamers one last chance to claim a batch of its beloved retro titles for free.
Several games from the company’s mobile catalog have been made completely free on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store, with all ads and in-app purchases removed. But there’s a catch: these games are being delisted soon, and once they’re gone, they won’t be coming back.
SEGA (Not Really) Forever
This sudden move follows SEGA’s quiet winding down of its SEGA Forever initiative, which originally brought many of these classics to smartphones with monetization layers. Now, with support ending, SEGA has decided to release them as fully unlocked titles that players can download and keep so long as they do so before they disappear from the storefronts.
Available Games
- Crazy Taxi Classic – Play Store | App Store
- Golden Axe Classics – Play Store | App Store
- Shining Force Classics – Play Store | App Store
- Sonic CD Classic – Play Store | App Store
- Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II – Play Store | App Store
- Streets of Rage Classic – Play Store | App Store
- Streets of Rage 2 Classic – Play Store | App Store
- Super Monkey Ball: Sakura Edition – Play Store | App Store

Once you download any of these titles to your device, they’re yours to keep. Even after they’re removed from the stores, they’ll remain playable in offline mode. SEGA has added a brief in-game notice stating that official support is ending, but the games will still function as normal for users who already have them installed.
Act Now, Save Later
While SEGA hasn’t announced an exact takedown date, the removals are expected to happen in the near future. Players hoping to preserve a bit of mobile gaming history, especially from the Genesis and Dreamcast eras, should act quickly to grab these while they’re still available.
This isn’t the first time SEGA has pulled retro content from mobile platforms. Several older releases were delisted quietly in past years, often with little warning. What makes this wave different is that SEGA is giving players full access without cost, and without the usual freemium hurdles.
Whether you’re reliving the chaos of Crazy Taxi or exploring the grid-based strategy of Shining Force, this is a rare chance to stock up on classics without paying a cent. Just don’t wait too long; once they’re gone, you won’t be able to get them back through official channels.
