If you’ve been paying attention to what Retroid has been doing over the past couple of weeks, you might have thought that it was releasing a true Nintendo DS successor. While that’s not exactly the case, Retroid’s Dual Screen Add-on is here, giving you the tools to do just that.

The Dual Screen Add-on is an accessory that you attach to your Retroid device, providing you with a 5.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen display that sits above the built-in screen. However, adding another screen to your handheld is only half the battle, and Retroid integrated the entire ensemble with a built-in device clip.

Not only that, but there’s passthrough charging, which is a necessity given that the bottom portion of the clip plugs into the USB-C port. Plus, Retroid is using a “click-stop” mechanism, with the hinge being angled at 120-degrees, 150-degrees, or 180-degrees.

When it comes to compatibility, this is where things get a little wonky, as there are actually two different versions. The Retroid version works with the Retroid Pocket 5, Pocket Mini, Pocket Mini V2, and Pocket 4 Pro. There’s also the “Other devices” version, which is said to work with devices featuring a 6″ to 7″ display and DisplayPort support over USB-C.

The Retroid Dual Screen Add-on can be yours for just $69, but if you use coupon code “RDS” at checkout, you’ll knock $5 off. Currently, Retroid expects shipping for the Add-on to begin on August 5th, meaning that we’ll have to wait a little while. But if you like the idea of turning your Retroid handheld into a DS of sorts, this is the way to go. Retroid has also introduced a few other accessories, as you’ll find in the list below.

Not only that, but there’s even a bundle that includes both the Retroid Pocket 5 AND Dual Screen Add-on. This will set you back around $268 before shipping, which is $20 less than if you were to buy them separately.
