PortMaster Roundup: November 1st-15th

The first half of November is JAMMED with new content for PortMaster fans. Individual setup instructions are available on the PortMaster website.

Ready-to-Run PortMaster Games

These ones are the easiest to get going: just download from PortMaster and play. This list of freeware, demos, and open-source projects is ready to play on dozens of devices.

• 100 Lil Jumps: Nara the frog has been cursed and can only make 100 jumps. Complete the challenge and break the curse
• Bleu Bayou: Embody a crawdad plagued by debt in this roguelite boss-rush shoot ’em up.
• Flip Clock: Its a flip clock.
• Ot: Autumn arrived; now Ot must gather the leaves. A 2D grid-based puzzle game with 22 levels.
• Pixel Wheels: Pixel Wheels is a free, top‑down retro-style arcade racer featuring dozens of creative tracks and a variety of vehicles with unique characteristics. Players can collect fun bonuses like missiles, guns, and mines to jostle rivals and scramble their path to the finish line.
• Sword of Jade: A lengthy fantasy adventure role-playing game based around a day/night cycle, customizing your heroes, and a storyline where every choice has an impact on the story. A retro-inspired RPG built with the OHRRPGCE engine, blending modern mechanics with Super Nintendo-era style.
• The Sphinx of Time: Join the crew of The Bahamut on a desperate voyage to the end of the universe to restart time itself in this sci-fi, time-warping mystery adventure. Features 30–60 minutes of fiendish puzzles, exploration, and point-and-click storytelling.
• X-YZE: X-YZE (pronounced “excise”) is a bump combat action game with a mysterious short story.

Free (Additional Files Required)

These titles are also free, but require an extra step, such as providing a specific BIOS, a freeware data file from another website (like itch.io), or a legally-owned ROM. Where possible, a link to the files is provided.

• Gotcha Gun: A 2nd place Winner in the itch.io, Bullet Hell Jam 5! Blast through the mechanical authorities and rob them while you’re at it! Watch out! The more you steal, the stronger your enemies become!
• Hyper Overlap 2 – Turbo Edition: Play every game at once (not in a good way!) as you fight against the glitches and corruption.
• Maou’s Crucible: Maou’s Crucible is a community-driven horde survivor roguelite featuring original characters from various creators. Enter the Crucible, survive against hordes of enemies, and claim the title of Demon Lord!
• Sandtrix: Sandtrix is a retro falling sand puzzle game that puts a unique twist on Tetris-style gameplay: When blocks land, they dissolve into sand with realistic physics, filling spaces around them. To clear lines, you must connect the same color of sand from wall to wall across the screen, making it more challenging than traditional block-stacking games.

Paid Games

These ports bring fantastic commercial games to your handheld, but require you to provide the data files from a copy you own on a platform like Steam or GOG.

• GB Rober: GB Rober is a fast-paced, expressive 2D action platformer. Shoot, jump, and dash your way through stages full of deadly robots and even deadlier traps. Defeat your bosses, take their weapons, and use them against your enemies.
• Overbowed: Explore a magic-corrupted kingdom in this Game Boy-inspired metroidvania featuring fluid bow combat, interconnected ruins, and secrets to uncover as you fight servants of the Dark Sorcerer.
• Remote Planets: Remote Planets is a cute, relaxing puzzle game set in a mysterious alien galaxy.

• Sad God: In this platformer-shooter-roguelike, we invite you to descend into a pit of monsters and traps. Gain strength from coins and weapons from altars. Touch an orb. Then race to the surface before the lava gets you.
• Shell Out Showdown: A vending machine Rapid Fire Food Combat, Generosity Arena! Throw food, dodge food, don’t litter, and give to win in this hectic, platform combat arena free-for-all!
• Super Spy Raccoon: A retro arcade throwback where you hide, sneak, climb, and leap your way to victory! YOU MUST NOT BE SEEN! Do you have the skills to achieve a top score?
• Swordbounce: Platform your way through over 150 ever more challenging rooms with your trusty sword in hand! Use obstacles to your advantage and traverse the treacherous depths.
• The Caribbean Sail: Name your crew, purchase supplies, sail the world, harpoon fish, plunder your enemies, die horribly, unlock a new Captain, and do it all over again!
• Vampire’s Best Friend: Flap through peril in this open-ended precision “batformer” with a unique control scheme that re-contextualizes precision platformer trappings and flips them upside-down! Install the demo if you’re not ready to buy this one!
