If you thought that we were going to have a reprieve from new handhelds for at least a few days, you’re sorely mistaken. Just this week, the Miyoo Flip became available to pre-order on Amazon, and now a teaser video for the OneXSugar was published.
It seems that OneXPlayer might be spreading out a bit beyond just the world of Windows, as the OneXSugar aims to be the company’s first Android handheld. It seems this was created in collaboration with Sugar Cubes, the same company that made the Small Universe X Sugar Cubes handheld in January 2024.
But enough of that.
‘The promo video shows off the outline of a handheld that starts out looking like a Nintendo Switch. But then, each controller is flipped over, revealing that a second display was hidden, which folds into place right below the main screen, flanked by each controller.
Seeing as this is nothing more than just a 40-second teaser video, not much else is revealed about the OneXSugar. However, towards the end of the video, it’s revealed to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, before fading back to a darkened silhouette of the handheld.
We have so many questions about what One-Netbook and Sugar Cubes have been cooking up. Thankfully, NITTRX offered a bit of clarity in a YouTube Community post. In the post, NITTRX states that the OneXSugar sports a 6-inch display with a 16:9 aspect ratio.
Although we don’t know what Snapdragon chip will be used, NITTRX goes on to say that “it can emulate early PC 3A games, emulate NS games, and is suitable for streaming.” With that, we can’t help but wonder if this might be the first non-AYANEO handheld to be released with the Snapdragon G3x Gen 2. Or maybe it will take the AYN Odin 2 route, and rely on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Needless to say, we’ll be keeping a close eye on the OneXSugar, and hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long to learn more.
