Nintendo has announced that US pre-orders of the Nintendo Switch 2 will start next week.

Earlier this month, Nintendo revealed the Nintendo Switch 2, its games, some specs, and some of the additional new ways the console differs from its predecessor. At the time, the device was planned to be available for preorder starting April 9.

However, the massive shift in initial trade relations between the US and other countries had put a stop to that original preorder date. Since then, Nintendo has kept it mum on if there were any other plans for announcing a new upcoming date, but rumors over the past week have pointed to the final week of April as the new targeted preorder date for US based customers.

New Pre-order Date

Today, Nintendo has announced that pre-orders are slated to begin on April 24. Alongside the announcement, Nintendo has also clarified that Switch 2 hardware and game pricing will remain unchanged, but accessory pricing will be shifting to adjust for market changes.

Tariffs, Switch 2, and Beyond

The Switch 2 is one of the first major handheld releases to be affected by the tariffs imposed by the current US administration. The recently released Retroid Pocket Classic had faced a slight delay for certain colorways, and that resulted in those three colors being effectively canceled for US customers. In contrast, Switch 2 has never shifted from its expected launch date, but the tariffs left gamers in a state of wonder while the company worked to figure out a shipment plan.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will be available for preorder on April 24 and will launch on June 5. The standalone console will have an MSRP of $449.99 USD, and the Mario Kart World bundle will cost $499.99.
