MANGMI is letting the good times roll, at least that’s the way it seems from our vantage point. After teasing and introducing the MANGMI Pocket Max last week, the company is back to offer one key detail, as its next handheld is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865.

There was a bit of confusion surrounding this earlier in the day, as MANGMI tweeted a graphic detailing the processor, RAM, and storage. However, that initial post was deleted, only to be replaced later in the evening by another one that only confirmed the processor.

In the original post, the Pocket Max was said to pair 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage with the Snapdragon 865. We’re hoping this will be the base configuration, even if it’s the only one. But seeing as there’s no mention of the RAM or storage in the latest post, along with the current global memory shortage, there’s no telling.

There are two ways this could end up going. The first being that the initial tweet was simply a case of someone selecting the wrong file from a folder, only to delete the post after the mistake was found. The other is that perhaps the original plan was to ship with 8GB of RAM, but since prices are already out of control, MANGMI might have to pivot to using less.

It wouldn’t really degrade the experience that much, as the SD865/6GB/128GB combination is the same as the Retroid Pocket Mini V2. What this would mean is that you’re going to be a bit more limited when it comes to higher-end emulation.

In a follow-up message over on the MANGMI Discord, the official account shared the following:

About the price…We haven’t announced the official numbers yet, but here’s a hint: the early bird price could be significantly sweeter than the regular retail price. (Of course, it’s not 100% locked in yet).

Of course, that doesn’t provide any concrete indication of how much the Pocket Max will cost. But it does suggest that there will be a significant jump when the Early Bird phase comes to a close.
