GameMT may be introducing yet another new, improved version of the GameMT E5.
The GameMT E5 was released in July 2024 and garnered a bit of fanfare for its vertical design, yet 16:9 aspect ratio. Most vertical handhelds use more blocky ratios like the standard 4:3, the somewhat sub-niche 1:1, or the Game Boy’s perfect 10:9.
The wider-than-most screen on the device leads to a body design that gives the console a general chunky appearance. We have, however, seen other devices with similar builds before.
The Powkiddy V10 is a 3:2 vertical handheld that offers a perfect 2x integer scale on GBA games. That device isn’t a 5-inch 16:9 like the E5 series has been, but the overall appearance strikes similarly.
GameMT E5 Specs
- CPU:VR Technologies VT569B
- RAM: LPDDR4 2GB
- Storage: 16GB internal, MicroSD slot
- Display: 5-inch IPS
- Operating System: Linux-based
- Resolution: 1280 x 720, 16:9
- Battery: 5000mAh
- Features: Hall effect joystick, LED analog controls, wide body, power bank, kickstand
The follow-up to the original E5 was the E5 Plus. GameMT is following a release pattern that we see rarely still in 2025. As opposed to a slight tweak to the build design or changing any other features of the device, subsequent improved releases only improve the chipset being used. However, by doing so, new features become available.
The GameMT E5 Plus is the same as the device described above, but features an RK3566 over the VT569B and that slight bump in processor power enables dual-booting both Android and Linux.
GameMT E5 Ultra Leaks
NITTRX over on YouTube has shared new information about the next GameMT handheld, and it looks like the company may be gearing up to release an E5 Ultra. One of two reported differences that the rumor suggests will be in the new handheld is an upgraded chip from the RK3566 in the Plus to a Unisoc T620; the same chipset found in the upcoming Helegaly K56.
Alongside this, it’s said to upgrade the RAM to 6GB and have an internal storage capacity of 128GB over the 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage in previous releases.

If the rumors are to be believed, the jump in processing power and tripling of the RAM would be a night-and-day upgrade over the Plus. The RK3566 manages to emulate PS1, Dreamcast, and N64 titles well, but the Unisoc T620 in comparison can at least scratch PS2 and GameCube emulation. The additional help from the RAM upgrade should help with the latter as well.
GameMT recently launched their E6 Max a few short days ago, but should these rumors prove to be true, the company could be releasing the E5 Ultra relatively soon.
