Update 12.29.2025

KTR2 Pricing Breakdown

Naturally, shortly after publishing this article, new information was shared about the KTR2. Notably, pre-sales for the handheld have been opened for everyone, and not just those in certain regions. As it turns out, there are actually two different versions of the KTR2, as KT Pocket is offering it with either a 3:2 or 4:3 display. Plus, it will be available with either a Plastic shell or a Magnesium Alloy frame.

If you want to jump in now, you can reserve yours for $59 if opting for the plastic model, or $89 for the Magnesium version. According to the landing page, you’ll have to pay the balance “10 days before shipping,” at which point you’ll be able to select which color to get.

KTR2 Pre-sales

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a handheld released from a company other than Anbernic, AYANEO, or one of the Game console producers. It appears as though that will soon change as pre-sales for the KTR2 are now live in China.

Until now, we were operating under the assumption that the KTR1S would be the successor to the KTR1. However, it seems that KT Pocket decided to pivot at the last minute (via @RetroDeadFred). In addition to the name change, more details about the KTR2 were revealed, most importantly of which was the price.

KTR2 Pre Sale Poster

Here’s how it breaks down across all four configurations:

  • 6GB/128GB (Wi-Fi)
    • Launch Price: ¥999 (~$142)
    • Pre-sale Price: ¥1099 (~$156)
    • Retail Price: ¥1199 (~$170)
  • 8GB/256GB (Wi-Fi)
    • Launch Price: ¥1299 (~$184)
    • Pre-sale Price: ¥1399 (~$199)
    • Retail Price: ¥1499 (~$213)
  • 8GB/256GB (4G)
    • Launch Price: ¥1449 (~$206)
    • Pre-sale Price: ¥1549 (~$220)
    • Retail Price: ¥1699 (~$241)
  • 12GB/512GB (4G)
    • Launch Price: ¥1799 (~$255)
    • Pre-sale Price: ¥1899 (~$270)
    • Retail Price: ¥1999 (~$284)

Beyond that, there are just a few other confirmations for what the KTR2 will bring to the market. These include using a magnesium alloy for the build, built-in Wi-Fi or 4G connectivity, and some kind of “Heat Dissipation.” We have to assume that this means active cooling with a built-in fan, which would definitely be beneficial.

Previously, it was revealed that the KTR1S/KTR2 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300. If this still rings true, then it would be the first handheld to make use of this MediaTek chip from 2024.

Pricing is going to be key here, as the $100-$200 market is heating up with the likes of the MANGMI Air X, Retroid Pocket G2, and AYANEO Pocket Air Mini. Perhaps there’s a bit of wiggle room for KT Pocket to carve out a place amongst the ranks. Now, we just have to play the waiting game for the KTR2 to be made available internationally.
