In collaboration with MyArcade, Atari has announced its newest handheld, the Gamestation Go.

In recent years, MyArcade has worked alongside Atari to release multiple handhelds that aim to revitalize games and consoles from Atari’s fabled history.

To celebrate Atari’s 50th anniversary, MyArcade released the Nano and Micro Player Pro, two miniature arcade cabinets that feature 75 or 100 bestselling titles, respectively. MyAracade has also released the Pocket Player Pro, a small handheld featuring the same 100 games as found in the Micro Player Pro.

What We See

The GameStation Go video shared via Twitter lacks any sort of details but does show off the device itself. The upcoming handheld capitalizes on trends seen in recent retro handhelds while also introducing some unique standouts as well.

Along the top of the device, gamers can find HDMI-out, a headphone jack, a microSD card slot, and a home button. The standard power and volume buttons are also found in between the two sets of dual triggers. For a brief moment, the video shows two controller ports, but their location of them can’t be deciphered. However, it appears possible that the ports could exist solely on a separate dock.

The device also utilizes RGB lighting underneath the paddle, D-pad, action buttons, and trak-ball.

Below the action buttons, it seems Atari has opted to include a numerical keypad, similar to what can be found on full-size keyboards. The numpad, while seeming odd at first, can be useful for a handful of found on the Atari 5200 and Jaguar like Star Raiders, Defender, Codebreaker, and Total Carnage. With the inclusion of the trak-ball, paddle, and numpad, the GameStation Go modernizes and combines some of the more iconic controllers Atari has experimented with over the years.

Atari and MyArcade’s Retro Handheld History

Many of the handhelds Atari has released in recent years have come with a preset number of games ranging from 10 to over 100. The GameStation Go, from what we can guess based on the video shared, looks to be a full-on retro handheld with the ability to load personal games and files from a microSD card.

Alas, we will not know for certain until CES 2025. It may be a hurdle for Atari to officially offer any sort of support for other console emulation, but if the device ends up running a slightly customized version of Android, emulation will probably be the first thing people attempt to get running on the handheld.

Last year, Atari had shown off the device in a similar fashion during CES 2024, but offered no details afterward, leading many to think the project had been silently canceled. When the device was known as the GameStation Portable, it was slated to release in late 2024 with a price tag of $149.99. But Atari has not announced whether the price has been altered any since the last time it was seen.

More Info Coming During CES 2025

Right now, details are indeed still scarce on the overall function of the handheld, but even then, it’s very clear that this release is a step above what MyArcade and Atari have previously collaborated to create.

As shown by the tweet itself, Atari will have more to show and announce come CES in the next week. Seeing as CES starts on the 7th and ends on the 10th, it can only be assumed that the future of Atari and their take on handheld gaming will be shown off at the event, giving us more details into the GameStation Go.
