Never a company to shy away from bold swings in the controller department, accessories maker GameSir has debuted two exciting new control accessories at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

GameSir have been making something of a name for themselves in the controller space. As a third party accessories maker, they seem to be going for that perfect blend between price and performance, and the results have been largely successful. Now they’re back with a few new offerings for the racing fans out there.

GameSir Swift Drive: They Made a New Jogcon

Cool idea

The official name for this new wheel controller is the GameSir Turbo Drive, but I’m going to guess the designers may have played some Ridge Racer back in the PSX days, because this thing looks like a direct nod to the Namco Jogcon.

I think we can assume where the inspiration came from. Image c/o Wikipedia

Something that the Jogcon could never claim though, was the world’s smallest direct drive motor. Inside the controller/wheel combo is a force feedback motor that should give you similar tension and feel as a full direct drive wheel system. Without having had the opportunity to see how it feels in the hands I can’t comment on how well this desired effect is achieved, but I’m certainly excited by the idea.

Turbo Drive

For those of us that might prefer something a little more traditional, GameSir have also unveiled the Turbo Drive wheel system. This steering wheel controller is a yolk straight out of Blade Runner in design, but promises something truly new in the airflow simulation system.

It has wind simulators!

Along with more traditional force feedback elements (One would assume if the controller has a direct drive motor, the wheel will as well) the GameSir Turbo Drive will feature turbine fans that will speed up alongside the movement of your virtual vehicle. The idea being to truly immerse the player by letting the wind whip through their hair. Whether this ends up being more gimmick than feature will have to wait and see.

The main draw from my angle on the Turbo Drive wheel is the fact that it will be 2.4G wireless. I love my racing wheel setup, but the nest of cables that come along with it are something I could certainly use less of in my life.

Retail pricing and release dates are still uncertain for the moment, but I’ll be curious to see where they land on cost. I’d imagine we’ll see an updated release window in the next several weeks to months and maybe see them available before the end of the summer. In any case, we’ll be keeping an eye on these fun new accessories and will bring you more information as it comes.
