PlayStation’s February State of Play clocked in at over an hour, packing game reveals, release dates, and surprise drops into a showcase that touched nearly every genre.

God of War, Resident Evil, and Dead or Alive

God of War got a double announcement: a full remake of the original Greek trilogy currently in early development (more on that in the next Rewind Roundup), plus God of War: Sons of Sparta, a 2D action platformer from Mega Cat Studios that shadow-dropped the same day on PS5.

Resident Evil Requiem drops February 27, with Capcom debuting the launch trailer full of new story teases and action beats. The game sits between numbered entries in the timeline, filling gaps left by previous installments while introducing new characters and threats.

Dead or Alive 6 Last Round hits PS5 June 25 with both standard and free-to-play editions, the latter featuring four fighters from the full 29-character roster. Team Ninja also teased a brand new entry in the series with a brief trailer, suggesting a true sequel is in early development.

Castlevania, 007, and Control

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse announced a 2026 release with development shared between Konami, Evil Empire, and Motion Twin. The 2D action-exploration entry features new weapons, abilities, and a fresh art style while keeping classic gothic action intact. It’s the first new mainline Castlevania in years, positioning itself as a return to Metroidvania roots after the Lords of Shadow trilogy detour.

007 First Light debuted a new story trailer showing James Bond’s origin, with IO Interactive crafting an original take on how Bond joined MI6’s revived 00 program. The footage focuses on Bond’s exploits in Iceland and his partnership with former 00 agent John Greenway as they hunt down rogue operative 009.

Control Resonant got new details from Remedy Entertainment, showing off shapeshifting weapons, gravity anomalies, and supernatural abilities as you navigate a reality-warped Manhattan. The sequel expands on the Federal Bureau of Control’s lore while introducing new threats and allies in the wake of the Hiss invasion.

Pragmata, Project Windless, and Crimson Moon

Pragmata got a closer look at Capcom’s sci-fi adventure, with protagonists Hugh and android companion Diana hacking and fighting through enemy threats when it launches on April 24 on PS5. The game blends puzzle-solving with action sequences in a near-future setting where humanity’s survival hangs in the balance of uncovering buried secrets on the moon.

Project Windless is a dark fantasy open-world action RPG from Krafton Montreal Studio inspired by the Korean novel series The Bird That Drinks Tears. You play as a Rekon, a nomadic warrior race of humanoid birds known for immense physical strength, set thousands of years before the source material. The reveal trailer emphasized scale, verticality, and exploration across desolate landscapes populated by massive creatures.

Crimson Moon is a gothic action-adventure RPG from ProbablyMonsters launching later this year, featuring solo and co-op play with dynamic difficulty scaling and enemy composition adjustments based on party size. The Victorian-inspired setting leans heavily into supernatural horror, with players hunting monstrous threats across fog-drenched cities.

John Wick, Star Wars, and Silent Hill

John Wick is in development at Saber Interactive, working directly with the film franchise creators to deliver an original chapter featuring signature gun-fu action, cinematic camerawork, and intense driving sequences. No title or release date confirmed yet, but it’s targeting PS5 and promises to expand on the Continental universe.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer unveiled gameplay spanning different planets with various racing vehicles and characters competing in an unsanctioned Outer Rim circuit. The runs-based racer launches later this year on PS5, borrowing mechanics from Wipeout and F-Zero while adding Star Wars vehicles and settings.

Silent Hill: Townfall shifts to first-person perspective, introducing a portable CRT TV device as both a combat tool and a story-unveiling mechanic. Screen Burn Interactive is handling development, promising a new town, horrific enemies, and story-driven puzzles rooted in mystery, tragedy, and loss. The CRT gimmick lets players rewind events, reveal hidden clues, and manipulate reality in ways that blur the line between observer and participant.

Yakoh Shinobi Ops, Beast of Reincarnation, and Brigandine Abyss

Yakoh Shinobi Ops is a four-player online isometric action game launching next year on PS5. Players infiltrate heavily guarded territory, combining unique ninjutsu abilities to avoid traps, evade soldiers, and escape an unstoppable Pursuer who threatens premature run failure. The game emphasizes coordination and stealth over combat, punishing aggressive play with overwhelming enemy reinforcements.

Beast of Reincarnation launches August 4 on PS5, a one-person, one-dog action RPG from Game Freak set in far-future Japan. You play as Emma, a blight-corrupted outcast, and her companion Koo, a malefact dog, switching between real-time sword combat and turn-based command systems. The dual-character setup borrows from Okami and The Last Guardian, with Emma handling direct combat while Koo provides support and puzzle-solving abilities.

Brigandine Abyss brings the strategic RPG series back after six years, with hex-grid battles and fantasy warfare returning to PlayStation for the first time since the original 1998 release. The game emphasizes kingdom management, unit deployment, and tactical positioning across multi-stage campaigns.

Marvel, Marathon, and 4

MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls punches onto PS5 and PC August 6, with pre-orders opening February 19. New roster additions include Magik, Wolverine, and Danger, with an Episode Mode confirmed and multiple editions available at PlayStation Store. The fighting system blends traditional Marvel vs. Capcom mechanics with anime-style presentation and cinematic supers.

Marathon launches March 5, with a Server Slam on February 26, giving PS5 players early access to select content plus exclusive tiered gear, emblems, and banners. Bungie also debuted a new gameplay trailer showing extraction shooter mechanics, PvPvE encounters, and faction-based progression.

4: Loop got a deep dive from Bad Robot Games, unpacking the four-player co-op shooter’s core mechanics and upcoming beta opportunities. The game combines roguelite structure with hero shooter elements, offering randomized loadouts and enemy compositions across procedurally generated levels.

Ghost of Yōtei, Kena, and Mina the Hollower

Ghost of Yōtei Legends arrives March 10 as a free cooperative multiplayer update for all Ghost of Yōtei players. The 1.5 update includes distinct character classes, three mission types, cosmetics, and a promised Raid mode in the coming months. It follows the Ghost of Tsushima: Legends template, adding mythic storytelling and supernatural enemies to the historical setting.

Kena: Scars of Kosmora sees Ember Lab returning with an all-new adventure featuring an older Kena exploring the mysterious island of Kosmora. Spirit companions grow over time, unlocking new powers, while elemental gameplay expands combat strategy. The game launches this year on PS5 and PC with PlayStation Studios partnership support, bringing better production values and expanded scope compared to the original.

Mina the Hollower from Yacht Club Games drops a PS5 demo tomorrow, with the full action-adventure launching this spring. The game promises over 25 unique bosses, 60 trinkets, weapon upgrades, a level-up system, new game plus, hundreds of gameplay modifiers, and a fishing mini-game. It’s Yacht Club’s attempt at a Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening homage filtered through Game Boy aesthetics.

Saros, Darwin’s Paradox, and Neva

Saros from Housemarque launches April 30 on PS5, featuring armor upgrades, a Modifier system to adjust difficulty, fast travel to unlocked biomes, and world-altering eclipse events that escalate corruption across enemies, weapons, and artifacts. The game borrows Returnal‘s bullet hell DNA while introducing environmental hazards and time-based progression mechanics.

Darwin’s Paradox announced an April 2 release date alongside a surprise demo dropping the next day. The demo is directly inspired by Metal Gear Solid, positioning the game as “Tactical Octopus Action,” where you play as an octopus infiltrating underwater facilities, using camouflage, ink clouds, and tentacle manipulation to avoid detection.

Neva: Prologue launches February 19 as DLC set years before the original game, telling the story of how Alba and wolf cub Neva first met. New gameplay mechanics and locations expand the original’s formula, adding platforming challenges and environmental puzzles that weren’t in the base game.

What Else Did Sony Announce?

PlayStation Plus announcements included Big Walk launching day one into Monthly Games later this year, while February’s Game Catalog adds Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, Neva, Season: A Letter to the Future, and Disney Pixar Wall-E starting February 17.

The showcase covered everything from nostalgic remasters to brand new IPs, leaning heavily into co-op experiences, remakes of beloved franchises, and surprise same-day releases. Whether any of these stick depends on execution, but the sheer volume suggests PlayStation is betting on quantity to hit multiple niches simultaneously.
