Azahar users are strongly urged to update to version 2121.2, released today, immediately.
Version 2121.2 of the Citra and PabloMK7 joint 3DS emulator, Azahar, includes a critical security change: the RPC (Remote Procedure Call) server is now disabled by default. This move comes in response to recent concerns around potential security vulnerabilities, particularly with the software’s increasing online integration.
What’s Different with Azahar 2121.2?
Previously, Azahar’s RPC server was automatically enabled, allowing any device on a user’s local network to access the memory of the app. This setup enabled powerful use cases such as external game overlays, real-time stat monitoring, and integration with third-party streaming tools. While helpful for advanced users, it also introduced a security concern, especially with the advent of online features and account login capabilities.

According to developers, this configuration posed minimal risk in earlier versions of Azahar. However, with the addition of online functionality and account-based systems, having an always-on RPC server is no longer considered safe. By disabling this feature by default, version 2121.2 aims to better protect users from unauthorized memory access or potential exploitation.
Importantly, there are no known cases of the RPC feature being used maliciously to date. Still, the development team believes proactive security is the best defense, especially as the software continues to evolve.
Security Update: Updated Security
If you rely on RPC features for overlays or other local tools, they can still be manually enabled. However, casual and security-conscious users will benefit from the improved safety net of having it turned off by default.
