Last week was a busy one for ModRetro, as the company partnered with OpenAI to announce the “Codex Game Studio,” offering a new way to develop games with AI. At the OpenAI event, attendees received unique transparent models of the ModRetro Chromatic, some of which have already made their way to eBay for some eye-watering prices.
Thankfully, it seems that you won’t have much longer to wait, or pay upwards of $5,000 (seriously), if you want to get a new transparent handheld. Earlier today, ModRetro shared its first official teaser image showing off four new colors for the Chromatic.
This falls in line with the previous leaks that have been cropping up over the past couple of weeks, as we’re expecting at least four new Chromatic colors. According to the post from ModRetro, these will be officially unveiled on October 8 at 9:30 am PT (12:30 pm ET).
If we were to guess, the only actual change coming to the Chromatic are the transparent shells, with everything else about the handheld remaining the same. It’s not all that surprising to see, as the Anduril Edition Chromatic was a limited version announced late last year, and began shipping just a few months ago.
Nevertheless, we’ll be sure to let everyone know once you can actually order (or pre-order) one of these new Transparent Chromatic handhelds, and how much they’ll cost.
