In a somewhat surprise sharing session this morning, AYANEO revealed details on their upcoming vertical handheld, the KONKR Pocket Block. Announced earlier this year, not only is the device actually real (AYANEO went silent on it for a long time), but it is available to buy from AYANEO’s website at the time of this article!
What We Know
The KONKR Pocket Block comes in three distinct colors; Cube Purple, Original Grey, and Atoms White (what’s with these names?) along with options for either 2GB/32GB or 3GB/64GB of RAM and storage.
Looking very similar to the TrimUI Brick and Miyoo Mini Plus, the KONKR Pocket Block is a smaller vertical handheld, with a 3.3″ 960 x 720 LCD screen sporting the MediaTek Helio G85 (the same chip found in the MagicX One 35). This should allow for the device to play up to PSP pretty easily, though you’ll want to keep that small screen and 4:3 aspect ratio in mind.

Early bird pricing will be available for $79 for the 2GB/32GB version, and $99 for the 3GB/64GB version, jumping up to $89 and $109 respectively at retail. Given that AYANEO hasn’t even finished pre-orders for the KONKR Pocket Advance, it’s hard to tell if the device will realistically make it to “retail”, so you’re better off grabbing one as soon as you can.
What’s Next?
AYANEO has been on a streak of revealing and then immediately putting devices up on their website as of late, so here’s hoping that this one sticks around longer than the AYANEO Pocket Micro 2. Also, knowing how “bloated” the AYANEO software experience can be on Android, the 2GB RAM version feels a bit weak, but not surprising given how low the price is for this device in the current market.
The KONKR Pocket Block is certainly launching at an attractive price point, and given how successful the KONKR Pocket Advance has been for AYANEO, this one could be another big seller for the company. Just be ready to deal with some potential logistical headaches.
